Really liked this place.. so sad!
The Goat is a totally different type of place. It's intended to be a come and hang out, study, work type of place. I believe they even will have an outdoor play area.
We went to Varsity Grill for the first time on Friday about 5:30. For a game weekend we were only 2nd couple there. But it was getting busier when we're leaving. Overall it is a beautiful, not loud venue, two tvs in the dining room. Didn't see the bar. The service was excellent, my red fish was just okay but my husband's ribeye was excellent! Will go there again for the steak! Hope the place survives.
Did I miss M-Beaux's permanently closing? I knew they'd gone to only being open for a few months of the year, but I see they're permanently closed as of last month.
Yeah, it was posted several pages back. I believe they are still doing catering though.

My wife and I tried Varsity today after reading all the discussion here about it. Really neat building, service was great, food was great. I got the 8oz sirloin, she got the chicken fried chicken. However, it was pretty empty. Will definitely go back and try dinner (sounds like they have a separate dinner menu).
Sorry if already posted, but what is being built next to the Varsity Grill?

Definitely Bubba's… Really good food and part of Texas Roadhouse family if it matters to you. Little late to start the build, a moth or two late if I remember correctly.
Anyone figured out exactly what's being built on highway 30 and hardy weedon? I know mixed light commercial and residential has been planned, but the building they have going up is all wooden framed and pretty large. Not typical for commercial. Can't make out what it's going to be.

Been thinking we need a better nursery here for a long time. A Calloways Nursery would've looked great at that 12 acres for sale on Boonville inbetween hicks lane and university with the old house!
Agreed. moon Valley will help. Calloways/Corneilus would be game changing. I've been lobbying them on their FB page. I'm sure it will eventually happen - they have expanded to Cedar Park and two Houston suburban locations in past 3 years.

I drive past it every day and haven't noticed any specific signage. I believe the GC, Keys and Walsh, builds some light commercial lease spaces that will be built out by the tenants.
And I'm pretty sure that's not in the city limits, so there's not a building permit to look up.
Edit: Actually I think that is in that weird strip of Bryan city limits that runs down that side of Hwy 30.
I've heard it's the BCS Church of Christ new location but don't have confirmation of that. Seems small as a replacement of their current location down the road.
