Took a midweek day to get out to Valera and fix a feeder pen and another feeder on my dads place.

Also pulled the cards on our game cams.

One last weekend of kiddo driven activities and then can hunt basically every weekend for the rest of the season.

That's finally what I decided too. I'm hoping that is my Hoyt Slumpbuster.

Literally the first 3 does I've had a chance to kill this SEASON have all been in the last 30 minutes. I've been a baby buck magnet.

She's not particularly big. I let a big nanny goat walk earlier in the morning that I should have shot.



Still, I'm pretty sure that Nov. 11 is the latest into the season that I've killed my first deer of the year.

Not sure it was perfect, but it was right where I aimed, and it was effective.

Shot angle was pretty steep because I was up a tree, and then up a ridge to boot so I aimed a touch high to make sure I got both lungs. Blood was a little spotty the first 30 yards but not hard to follow. She went maybe 60 yards.

Meant to post this here too... solid 8pt buck from Grimes county last weekend... only about 1 hour 15 mins in the stand until he walked out. Have not seen a buck in this area for quite a while...
