I figured I'd make this post just to make myself feel better...
I'm a 362 on XBONE and people want to know how I got there.
First off, decrypting blues only gets you up to 340s, so do it early but don't infuse them. Buy 350 vendor gear and level up factions/vangard/crucible as possible (gives 350 or better gear once you have all those 340 blues equipped.
Second, Grind Heroic strikes like its out of style- levels up faction and vangard and drops 2-4 blue decrypted engrams at a higher light level than you. Get that Zhalo and an arc sniper and go to town.
Third, get a big party (5-7 people) and try to get into the same Arcon Forge. You can only carry one SIVA offering per character (but you can carry one in your vault and transfer them so you should have access to 4). Its easy to farm the SIVA offerings on the Gjallahorn strike at the stay in the circle part but kill yourself at 95% to reset at the same point. Purples with groups of 6 are doable, but difficult. Green and blues are easy. To get a LARGE group, go into an arcon forge, invite the other random in your forge to your party and have other guys from your party join up on him (if he wants to leave, at least get him to make yall party leader and you can have 2-3 fireteams in the same forge). The forge does exotic drops (purple SIVA keys) and drops cools purples at high levels (all blues from here decrypted into 340 max).
Last, avoid the nightfall (gave me 18 strange freakin coins for 2 hrs work).
I'm trying some quick runs on Challenge of the Elders for a possible ghost and will try a Court of Oryx to see if the artifact will drop at high levels as these are the 2 things I'm struggling with.
