Likely 6 QBs will go in round 1 on 2027. So that leaves maybe 2-3 teams that would be interested in Stroud. I doubt the Cardinals would go for it. Maybe the Steelers? The Rams have their first round pick from this year so they are unlikely.

So who is going to pay for CJ?

Somebody will it always happens because the cap continues to grow 8-10% a year and will continue growing.

I'm a Texans fan watch them every week. CJ's not great but he's safer than 10-12 QB situations in the league and that's all it really takes for a team to contend. He's not olde either.

If the Texans don't pay him… somebody will.

Never forget… Kirk Cousins made $350m being a very very average NFL QB for his career. And a LOT of that on fully guaranteed fairly long term contracts. CJ has no real reason to settle under the trend of the highest paid QB is whichever one is getting paid off of their rookie deal.

Unfortunately true.

He's a type of QB who HAS to have a good running game to succeed via play-action. I wish he'd run more; he's been pretty decent at it... but sometimes, he's sitting there and instead throws it out-of-bounds, or does something else, instead of taking the yardage that is available.
