And shocker the Texans posted a social media post of Andre at the game on Saturday opening his custom jacket with pics of him and Janice stitched inside.

Could be nothing, I'd bet on posturing.

I'm not following. What's shocking about the Texans posting on social media about the 2nd greatest player in franchise history being at the first game of the year and wearing a custom jacket to honor Ms. McNair? This surprises you?

I'm saying Andre goes viral for a clip talking about Stroud's body language, then the Texans post multiple posts of Andre the same day. I think there are games being played behind the scenes between Muhlugetta and Texans brass.

That seems a bridge too far to me. The comments are apparently from February, so fresh off his playoff performance. And this was something a lot of people were saying at that time (you can even find me saying it last year on here!).

If CJ plays slightly above average or better, he gets a new deal. If he doesn't, he'll probably walk. As was discussed earlier, it's not really even a negotiation in terms of $$. It's just deciding whether to resign him or not. The amount is largely set. A cryptic social media post (that will be at least 9 months old by that time) won't have anything to do with it.

If anyone has expertise on crappy QBs for the Texans, it's Andre. When Matt Schaub is light years ahead of the rest of the field during your time with a franchise you've really been through the muck.

Andre's QBs with the Texans

  • David Carr
  • Tony Banks
  • Dave Ragone
  • Matt Schaub
  • Sage Rosenfels
  • Matt Leinart
  • T.J. Yates
  • Case Keenum
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick
  • Ryan Mallett

  • To me, this list both makes the case for and against resigning CJ. Tethering your team long term to an average to slightly above average QB (a la Schaub) often results in a lost decade. Never good enough to win it but never bad enough to start over.

But the alternative is often all those other guys. Yikes. Come to find out, even average isn't so easy to find.

Average might be hard to draft, it isnt hard to find though.
Goff, Baker, Sam Darnold, and Jacoby Brisset are all good examples. What is the common demonization in those QBs going from duds to studs great WRs, running game and a good defense. Maybe Mac Jones could be an option.

Goff and Baker are former high picks who took a while to come around. If anything, I think they bolster the case for not giving up on CJ.

    That is fair.

I think the change in scenery. The different expectations that comes with that really enables players to step up.

The only answer is to start immediately tampering with Lamar Jackson.

Trade CJ to the Jets for 3 1sts and draft a new QB.

One of my favorite Lance Z takes of all time on the bench was him doing pro/cons about Fizpatrick and the main con was "can't throw the ball more than 20 yards".

If we're bringing up old LZ Texans bits, the "keeping them fresh" will never be topped.

    Jeez...

All the talk on sports radio this afternoon was Andre's comments. I see Demeco and Stroud were asked directly about it during their PCs.

I wish one of them would've just said 'We're not going there. We'd be here all day if we addressed every criticism on every podcast, tv show, or radio spot. That's for you guys to discuss.'

Just the media doing media things.

Burrows sat out practice today with back tightness but is expected to play Sunday.

Within the first 7 games of the year, Texans see Allen, Burrow, Prescott, Lawrence, Dart, and Herbert.

Why are you listing Dart like he's the same as the other 5?

    Dart seems better than Herbert

It's also over 8 games. So if you remove Dart and yeah Herbert… not near as dramatic sounding.

I don't understand what this coaching staff sees in Xavier. He had one good game but otherwise is a disappointment. The end arounds they try with him almost always end in lost yardage and he is 50/50 catching balls that hit him in the hands.

Love Nico but he can't stay healthy. Going to need Montgomery to carry the team or utilize the tight ends more. I like what little we have seen from Klein so far
    CharleyKerfeld
How long do you want to ignore this user?
As long as Montgomery doesn't accidentally shoot himself with a firearm and then get surgery without telling the team about it, he should be good to go.

    looking at the Texans schedule...

the Texans did not get all the bad QB's this year

4 games vs. the Titans, Browns, and Steelers and their weak QB's

2 games vs. the Colts and so-so Daniel Jones

but the other 11 games are against good / established / franchise quarterbacks

So looks like Nico has a Grade 1 hammy strain

Given his history I'm guessing he's definitely out this week and wouldn't shock if he's out next week as well.

Sounds like a classic Dalton Schultz 6 catch, 13 target, 50 yard game is incoming.

Which is why I took the under on some of Nico stats and over on Dalton's.
