Having weird issues editing my post, but interesting things to note on the depth chart are

Rutledge starting at center
And RT is Brown OR Braden Smith

Here's the schedule. That late road trip to Philly and Green Bay in December sounds like a nightmare.

The more I look at the schedule the less I like it. It's absolutely crazy to me how there's only one stand alone away game, all the others are part of a back to back series, and it happens in September. I haven't checked any other teams schedules but I can't imagine there's another team with 4 sets of back to back road games. 3 of the 4 sets of away games are after the bye in week 8.

Week 5 @ TN
Week 6 @ JAX (in England)

Week 9 @ LAC
Week 10 @ CLE

Week 13 @ PIT (Sunday Night)
Week 14 @ WAS

Week 16 @ PHI (Christmas Eve/Thursday Night)
Week 17 @ GB (Monday Night)

The back to back home games:

Week 1 vs BUF
Week 2 vs CIN

Week 11 vs IND (Thursday Night and this game is preceded by the away games in weeks 9 and 10)
Week 12 vs BAL

Lets gooooo! Game day thoughts, share yours as well.

- Does Tank get reps, how does he look?
- Will be watching for Rutledge and Smith (also the depth pieces on OL)
- Do we work TE's much, how does Moreau look?
- Looking for Noel and Bond to step up

- Watching for McDonald, Woodaz, Ramsey reps
- Does Clowney get reps or do they treat him more like a starter?

I doubt we see much of Tank Dell, got to think he'll be eased back into things through the start of the season.

I think Noel is a bit gimpy, so I imagine we see lots of Bond. Which is good because there's been a lot of preseason talk about him so far.

I want to see how cohesive the oline looks, no matter who's playing. Even in week 1 I'm hoping it doesn't feel like Benny Hill music should be playing like it did last year.

Defense, all I want to see is how the depth looks, don't really need to see anything else to know they'll be good

It is a really crappy schedule on paper, and they really insult them by not giving them the bye the week after the England game.

Should be a fun team to watch this year - cannot wait to see the defense in action again.

nonetheless...

it's all about Fairbairn and his 50-yarders again (and his 40-yarders)

last season he was perfect from 40 to 49 yards ---> 16 of 16

and very good from 50+ ---> 9 of 13

an incredible weapon

ideally though...

he won't attempt 48 field goals (in 15 games) this season

the offense will score more touchdowns

David Montgomery and the OL are the keys to the offense. Stroud having to make mental decisions or being rushed = unmitigated disaster.

Davis Mills looks sharp in warmups!

I've seen enough. Give Mills the starting role.

Nice first drive for the Texans offense to get the TD.

Klein looks surprisingly good.

o-line looks competent with room to grow.

depth at RB and WR looks good too

Mills is Mills, looks good for 3 or 4 plays and then has a what are you thinking play, then back to 3-4 good plays

we have a top 3 backup qb in the league.

To be fair, the one near Mills INT should have been DPI.

Like a first preseason game, so from a team point of view completely meaningless. From a player point of view some interesting players that could be depth pieces.

Klein, the TE draft pick looked surprisingly good.

Some players stood out on defense and offense

O-line looked competent

Great depth on the D-line

LBer depth a little worrisome

Secondary depth looks good

WR and RB depth look good


Overall, other than Mertz maybe getting hurt it was a good first preseason game for the guys that played

The first pre season game is what it is, only good for coaches to evaluate personnel but the amount of penalties really ticks me off. This is an going problem with DeMeco and 1st game or not 10 late in the 4th quarter just makes me think we ain't fixing it....again.

Not even penalties of aggression for the most part. Stupid holding and procedure penalties.

Other than Mertz, it seems like we dodged the injury bug. Just be ready for week 1.

Mertz injury could be big.

That would mean when CJ misses the couple games he's good for we're one Davis Mills injury away from watching Kase Keenum QB this team.

If your third string QB is playing, you're likely in trouble no matter what.

if CJ and Mills go down and Mertz is still out, there's only one thing you can do. Sign Old Man Rivers out of retirement again!
