That's very cool! I used to have an authentic jersey customized with Bates' name and number... gave it to a family friend when we cleared out Mom and Dad's house last year. Way too fat (and old) to wear it these days.

Especially unfortunate since it's an issue they apparently have known about for months and just now decided to have surgery. And a guard missing 4-6 weeks for surgery on their thumb is odd.

I was just thinking the other day that it appears we will get to start a season at 100% across the board. Dang man!

The only silver lining is that, I think, you prefer this to happen at OG right now instead of OT. We know Bass is a serviceable guy that has played meaningful snaps for us in the past.

Bass is serviceable and the schedule isn't horrible to start the year. Hopefully we can start no worse than 3-3, and get Smith back before the W7 game against the Eagles
