Sure, but typically having a QB of Hurts' caliber is automatically disqualifying with respect to championship hopes. Historically it's almost impossible to win a title with that level of QB play so the cap hit doesn't really matter. Philly built a level of talent around him that has generally thought to have been impossible on the cap era.

The way I tell me people to look at it is this: Had ANY legit top 10 QB been on the roster for Philly in 2024 that team would be viewed as one of the greatest ever (and probably the greatest in the cap era) and could have potentially gone undefeated. That's how stacked that roster was. The overall roster was WYA better than 2007 New England. Hurts was, by far, their biggest weakness.

With the reports of Steele struggling yesterday, I do wonder if they don't try to make something happen for an OT before the season starts. Jerry has already said they would be willing to part with some draft capital.

Pitt may be a team with some depth there and the Cowboys are famiiar with their new coach.

Steele is really interesting because we always knew who he was... and in some ways, we were glad for it. He was good enough to play NFL RT, but with just enough wrinkles where we didn't have to pay him top dollar. For cap reasons you need guys like that.

But maybe wear & tear is catching up to a guy that had, at best, mid level skills.

Every season I just assume he'll be fine when the season starts... not great but not terrible either. Maybe we are getting to the poing where he's not fine anymore.

SIAP…with Q's contract they were able to free up 13m in cap space. They have a total of 18m in cap now I believe. Definitely feels like another move is coming…

Downs is a great player but safeties don't affect the game as much as the other defensive positions in the pros now a days.
