Yes sir, exactly this (gotta include the Dallas Stars too). I've Iearned to be a fair weather fan of all non football teams. It was just too much being emotionally invested year round. Fortunately I've had a lot to cheer for from these guys in recent years.

But I can't say the same for football. I'm so much better than I was in my younger years, but I'm still very much emotionally invested into the Cowboys and Ags every year. The big difference now is I find a ton of joy and appreciation for the "good" years. The real fun is the 5-6 month journey and I don't let the disappointment of not winning it all bum me out too much. But surely one of them is due a championship soon....

Olave's deal with the Saints pretty much cements that Pickens will not be a Cowboy beyond this year. I don't see him agreeing to a team friendly deal that leaves $7 million/year on the bone. It's gonna take 35 million/year to sign him long term and no way can the Cowboys do that.

It's 2 for sure, I don't think 3 is an option but could be wrong.

I feel pretty strongly that Pickens is getting the tag this offseason no matter what. It's likely a move to retain his rights so that we can get a trade for him. Would be dumb to let him walk and get nothing in return.

I also can't think of anybody else we would tag... maybe Overshown if he has a good year and we feel like we need another "prove it" (stay healthy) year before we decide if he's worth a 2nd contract.

Would they trade for Brooks with his new contract? Think it's 17 per with 35 guaranteed. They were playing lowball with linebackers in free agency. I would still go Crosby. Would make one of the most dominant pass rushes in the league. Not to mention helping out a questionable secondary on the backend.

Brooks trade would be Miami eating some of the contract in exchange for draft capital. His base salary is only $1.2M this season. Been a hot rumor all week

2 are difference, change the offensive gameplan type players. Depends on cost but get one of these.

3 are solid, past their prime pieces. See what we have in camp and what fits CP's system. Nab 1 or 2 as depth if needed

I'd be fine with Wagner because our LB group is so thin. I'm not a fan of a past prime vet DE because they would be possible progress stoppers for our 2 very young edge guys.

Word is that Ez is looking very quick and fluid so far (which is a pleasant surprise considering the offseason hip procedure).

RB: Getting lots of positive reps from Blue & Mafah. Feeling a bit better about not drafting one this year.

LB: Not hearing much here other than the Barham mentions (see above). I don't like this... if Overshown was 100% back it feels like people would be talking about him flying around in these non padded practices. He may never fully return after that last knee injury which was pretty nasty. Feels like we need to add a guy.

Pre-Camp Injury Concerns: The two guys we thought might 'limp' into training camp... Bland and Ez... have been very good. Both have looked very fluid, very quick, etc. The *was Fluss the problem* talks have come up regarding Ez... he just looks to be in a better place schematically/mentally and he looks really good compared to this time last year.



EDIT: Heard something this morning that suggests the lack of Overshown news may be due to the fact that it looks like Dallas may be protecting him a bit in camp. Don't need injury guy doing too much work in shirts & helmets.

He's a LB for us right now.

Our primary OLB/Edge guys are Ez, Gary, Lawrence, Houston, & Sam Williams.

Also in that bunch is Liufau who is no longer a stand up LB. He's got an uphill battle to make the team. Was a 3rd round pick 2 years ago... too many misses/injuries with our recent LBs. It's a real problem.
