IMO she's the most unrealistic character arc on the show. I get that much of the show involves the kids making the same mistakes time and time again, but Shiv was supposedly too smart to fall for all her Dad's bull**** and instead decided to carve her own path... Then she jumps at the chance the first time Logan dangles the CEO title.

Then she finds out it was bull***** OK. Lesson learned (even though she claimed she had already learned it).

Nope. Here we are again with her thinking her father is being upfront with her.
That's the point. She put on the front of being too smart for it all, but at the end of the days she is driven by the same motivations as the rest of her siblings. She wants her dad's approval, and she wants to be the one who wins.

I think Shiv ends up flipping to Team Kendall.

I thought the Adrien Brody scenes were great.

Adrien Brody's character was pissing me off with his feigned concern for Logan and being in no hurry to get help to them.

At one point in seemed like he was actually trying to let him die out there as a play for Stewy/Sandy.

Yeah like I said I get that's what all the kids are going through, it's just kind of a tired storyline to see Shiv go through it - again. It's only entertaining to watch Lucy pull the football away once or twice. After that it's tough to take her character seriously anymore.

It would be like if Logan was tired of the drama and told Kendall he'd start the timetable for him to step down shortly and anoint Kendall CEO and Kendall went along with it. Yeah, Kendall wants to be CEO and wants his fathers approval and all that... But at what point is it not realistic/entertaining to watch him just make the same mistake again.

It's just made Shiv's character completely uninteresting to me, whereas I thought she was one of the most interesting ones initially.

I bet she makes her move in the next couple of episodes. I can't imagine they're going to let her just drown.

Yeah I definitely have faith in the show. What they have managed to do with Tom's character has been superb.

I actually wondered if Tom was about to kill Greg.

Tom's physical lashing out is just done so well IMO. You can really see the guy who has always had control need some kind of outlet. When Greg was about to tell him about his wife infidelity in S2 while he was out on a run, I thought that was one of the high points acting-wise of the show.

I liked Brian Cox's acting during his physical illness. He can pull off an old man having the physical issues yet he stays true to the personality of the character still coming through so well. Awesome how in the midst of his father's health concern Kendall is still focused on the business deal. It's so telling on many levels.

I couldn't decide if I thought he wanted to kill him or bang him. That scene was all kinds of weird, but Tom/Greg scenes are always my favorite thing

So much to process from that episode.

I love that Adrien Brody's character is serving as the catalyst that hopefully brings Kendall and Logan back to the table together. It's clear, you two are on the same team, or you collectively lose control of the company, period. They are both being played, the whole family will get played if they're not unified.

Tom and Greg's scene while comedic was also fairly emotional from Tom. It's obvious he feels isolated from everyone, including his wife. Maybe Greg is the only person there that might possibly give a damn about him. They need to help each other to survive this. Greg is Tom's safety blanket.

Every time I think Roman gets closer to something bigger for himself he decides to turn back into his childish ways. Negotiating with a former vagrant to see if there are photos of the night he and his brother paid him to tattoo Kendall's initials on his face, incredible.

Every week Alan Ruck gets to just show up for a few minutes and spout absolute nonsense. He has smile uncontrollably every time he gets to open a new script. He's having more fun than anyone else on the show, period. His scene with Shiv was so good. It's gotta be hard to keep it together in any scene where Connor is present.

Favorite moment of the episode:
Logan: Can I get you a drink?
Greg: I'll have a rum and coke.

oh, there's no question brody's character is a terrible person. even more so than money, it seems to be more about power to these guys. the comment about getting king kong to come out. he was making these powerful guys do whatever he wanted them to do, literally to the point that logan almost killed himself. i'm sure brody's character really did want to see how logan and kendall interacted, but he could've witnessed that in NYC. but where's the fun in that?

This actually hit me kinda hard. Tom's marriage is in shambles, and he gets no love or respect from anyone in the family or at Waystar Royco.

Greg is the only person he cares about, twisted as that relationship is. Probably because he's the only person who has any semblance of fear/respect for Tom.

That was one of the best lines from the entire series.

Also, Cousin Greg's scene with Tom and his scene with Logan were two of my favorite from the series.

Just got caught up. I feel so bad for Tom! It seems like he's at his breaking point and about to do something drastic and Shiv is either oblivious or she just flat out does not give a **** about him any more (if she ever did). I have to say though, his research on which prison would be best was pretty dang hilarious.

The scenes with Josh were deeply uncomfortable. I couldn't tell if he was intentionally trying to stress Kendall and Logan out to see how they would interact, or if he's just an *******. But for a minute there I really thought he was purposely trying to push Logan into a heart attack and planned to delay help until it was too late. Crazy.

another interesting tidbit from my rewatch...

in episode 1 of season 2, logan is meeting with his banker to discuss options following the bear hug. his banker is played by danny huston.

what's cool is that it occurred to me that both brian cox and danny huston have played william stryker in x-men movies. i wonder how often that's happened in film/tv?

I imagine it happens quite a bit with guys who have seemingly been around forever and in everything like Brian Cox. For example Brian Cox was in Red 2 with Anthony Hopkins -- the original Hannibal Lecter paired with the most well known Hannibal Lecter.

ok, shiv is definitely the worst of the bunch to me.

just rewatched the episode where logan makes tom, greg and karl play "boar on the floor". i'd forgotten that was the same episode where shiv banged the actor and then basically told tom about it right after he gets home and tells her what a crappy weekend it was.

i actually hope tom turns on her (and the company) big time to save himself.

Part of me wants to see Greg save himself, but another part of me really wants to see the hijinks of Greg actually having to navigate jail in season four.

I don't think Greg will go to jail. I think he's going fall up. There's a part of me that will be surprised if he isn't CEO at the end of it all.

Tom... He might actually go to jail.
