I'm kind of hesitant about the idea of a Boba Fett movie.
Same here. Truth be told, I'd rather none of these spin-off / non-main-trilogy movies focus on already-established characters. I especially have no desire to see a Yoda movie or a Han Solo movie, both of which are heavily rumored. At least Boba Fett provides enough mystery to fill in the blanks with a somewhat interesting story, I guess.
I completely understand not wanting these spin-off movies to interfere in "present day" with Episode VII, VIII and IX. But doing prequel movies for many of the main characters isn't the answer, either. Again, from a studio perspective, I get why you'd want that brand recognition. It's safe sticking with these characters. But it's STAR WARS. No matter what story you tell, people will show up.
I just hate how these spin-off movies went from potentially being opportunities for interesting directors to tell cool, unique, off-the-beaten-path stories in the Star Wars universe - to fill-in-the-back-story, character prequels for Boba Fett, Yoda, and Han. Just seems so counter-productive.
