The whole point is if the plane and conveyor at traveling at the same speed but in opposite directions - the plane wont take off b/c it can't get any speed.

That doesn't even make sense. If the plane's speed is 0, than the conveyor's speed is 0. If the plane's speed is 175 knots than the conveyor's speed is 175 knots, but the plane (most smaller planes) has enough speed to take off.

the plane is traveling to the right at x mph
the belt is moving to the left at x mph
so effectively the plane is standing in place
so if there is no movement with the airplane with respect to the ground
how in the hell is there enough force to lift it?

the ****ing trick to the question is that people ignore the fact that the plane is not being held in place. THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE QUESTION! and you fools that don't understand the plane will take off are ignoring the core aspect of the problem
