Current SEC RPI standings. For the teams' records, I used the format:
(conference / non-conference)

SEC West:
-----------------------
#16 Auburn (11-7/18-5), SOS 19
#18 LSU (10-8/17-4), SOS 13
#21 Texas A&M (10-8/15-6), SOS 7
#27 Arkansas (12-6/19-3), SOS 80

#42 Alabama (9-9/15-8), SOS 8
#64 Ole Miss (6-12/16-5), SOS 32
#76 Mississippi State (8-10/16-7), SOS 63

SEC East:
-----------------------
#1 Tennessee (17-1/20-2), SOS 38
#5 Georgia (11-7/17-5), SOS 9
#8 Vanderbilt (9-9/19-2), SOS 16
#13 Florida (6-12/17-5), SOS 2
#38 Missouri (5-13/17-2), SOS 24
#67 South Carolina (6-12/13-8), SOS 6
#77 Kentucky (6-12/16-6), SOS 41

We beat LSU 2-1 in Baton Rouge. Arky swept LSU in Fayetteville over Easter weekend. LSU is ahead of both of us.

Ok… that's 2 top tier series they blew. What have they done on the flip side to counter that? Honest question.

LSU would probably say "you lose a series at home to Penn." And went 1-2 at a bad tournament.

They are not the problem.

If their RPI stays Top 40, they probably won't be a 4 seed.

I don't think Penn can stay Top 40, even if they win out. Their strength of schedule will take a beating over the next few weeks. They only have 7 regular season games left on the schedule...3 at Yale (RPI 157), 1 at Delaware (RPI 146), and 3 at Princeton (RPI 277). I guess it helps that all 7 games are on the road, but 7 Quad 4 games down the stretch will probably destroy their RPI.

Also, the Ivy League doesn't have a true post-season tourney. Unless they've changed it, the 1st and 2nd place teams play a best-of-three series to see who gets the auto bid. Right now, Penn is 2nd in the Ivy League, a half-game behind Columbia. Dartmouth is right on their heels, 2.5 games back.

So...Penn's SoS is already a dismal 124, and that will only get worse over the next few weeks.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

So are we saying RPI rewards mediocrity? Don't have to be too good, just don't be too bad? Don't have to beat the really good teams, just don't slip up against the really bad teams?

I think you are correct. If I remember correctly, they had a hot streak and either won a big tournament or swept a big time opponent and jumped to #1

They were 16-4, 2-1 in SEC play (beating Auburn) before the headed to Knoxville on March 25. Since then, they are 6-14, 4-11 in SEC play (22-17, 6-12 for the season).

They were ranked #1 about a month ago.

Huge free fall. Hopefully, they don't get right before we show up. They have talent, but as everyone knows, OMAHA stands for Ole Miss At Home Again.

Just an interesting RPI oddity.
Not really. RPI is not about head to head matchups.

LSU has a SOS of 13, no bad losses outside the top 100, and a record of 10-11 against the top 50

We have a SOS of 7, 2 bad losses outside the top 100, and a record of 12-9 against the top 50 (erase those two losses and we are ahead of LSU, maybe even just erase one of those losses)

Arkansas has a SOS of 80, 2 bad losses outside the top 100, and a record of 8-6 against the top 50 (they have 2 bad losses like us but their SOS is why they are behind us).
Your points are correct. They create the oddity (to me) of a team being ahead of two teams it is 1-5 against. Hence my statement of an RPI oddity. I certainly wasn't clear in my point.

Arkansas' non-conference schedule was and is awful.

A Tuesday-Wendesday midweek series with Grambling on top of their normal one with Arkansas Pine-Bluff? Yeah, okay.

They needed to make a huge run in conference to catch up. And they just might do it, but they're still working on it.

Is there a way to see how your rpi will change based on wins and losses per remaining game. WarrenNolan has an Impact Game feature that will tell you what happens for the next game. For example, a win vs. Vandy will be +46 rpi and a -14 rpi for a loss. Is there a way to get this info for all remaining games?

Not that I'm aware of. Closest thing is the RPI needs report on Boyd's World, but that just tells you what record you need to likely end up at a certain level.

That would be impossible to do since the rpi is ever changing depending on the day. Only reason the warrennolan site can show how today's game affect the rpi, is because they are only looking at today's games. They would have to run millions of computations to come up with anything like you are asking about because there would be millions of permutations to come up with each schools rpi projection for each of the remaining games.
caleblyn

I understand. I am wanting to see what the rpi change would be if the game were played today. For example, if we played Ole Miss today, what would the change be?

it is strange to see Texas Tech (29-15) sitting at RPI #47.

Tadlock has been the master of gaming the RPI through the years by playing a lot of mid-range non-conference opponents. But the strategy bombed this year

Yeah a bit crazy no doubt as they did still travel for some really nice OOC matchups. However they have a lot of ground to makeup as they have a bunch of games against very weak comp, and have lost a few of those. 20 total q3/q4 games and 3 losses is certainly not helping them.

Tech 2022
q1: 6-10
q2: 6-2
q3: 3-1
q4: 14-2

For comparison, the Ags:
q1: 12-9
q2: 5-4
q3: 0-0
q4: 8-1

By "gaming by playing mid-range opponents", you mean Tech often plays at least two weekend series and several midweek games with PAC-12 and SEC opponents, then sure.

Their non-conference schedule this year was probably never going to be as good as normal with Iowa, Merrimack, Kent State, and Rice filling 4 of their weekends.

They went to Biloxi to play two midweek games against Mississippi State, but the Bulldogs are having an unsteady year and I'm sure Tech thought they'd be better.

Tech's bigger problem is that they've already lost 15 games. They've not lost more than 20 in an entire season since 2015.
