Come postseason, Brown and Javier are the aces of your staff based on stuff and track record.

Framber is a volume guy.

The Dodgers also have spent money on Glasnow and Snell. They won without a former Cy Young winner last year (again with a $400M roster) but they know it isn't smart to build a team without one.
When your payroll is $6B it isn't smart to have holes anywhere. If you are proposing we increase our payroll by $100M like the Dodgers so we can extend Framber, sign Burnes and add Santander I'm all for it but doesn't appear Crane is down.

Framber was amazing in the 2022 Postseason, including 2 WS wins and was nails in the clincher. He has some major skins on the wall.

He struggled in 2023 and 2024. Hunter was good against Detroit.

I could get behind a Framber trade, but it would seem strategically inconsistent with the Walker signing. Walker's best season will likely be 2025 as he ages.

I know this isn't an option.

I am saying if you aren't going to have an ace or two, you better have all those MVPs in your lineup if you want to win the WS.

I do kinda wonder if they are going to try and address leverage relief.

If we were going all in on 2025 then our strategy is already inconsistent because we traded Tucker. As far as I can tell, we are trying to be competitive in 2025 while making sure our ability to contend for playoff spots goes beyond 2025. The Tucker trade and Walker signings are consistent with that strategy. To me, Framber is too much in the "go for it all this year" bucket and I want more "keep it rolling past 2025". The free agent market for hitters also sucks next year so we won't be able to easily fill that hole 12 months from now (especially without Framber to trade).

Framber was excellent in 2024 after the early Angels game debacle and was hurt in 2023.

He's not getting traded.

The Astros have entirely too much money dedicated to leverage relief as is.

Maybe Dana can find some bargain guys we can turn into studs.

One last note, the Dodgers were second in MLB in runs scored last year and the Rangers were 3rd in 2023. The Dodgers were 13th in ERA last year and the Rangers were 18th in 2023. If you are looking for a formula, it appears to be have a great offense and pitching that is good enough. I feel a lot better about our pitching coaches turning spaghetti into a quality starter than I do our hitting coaching turning Jake or Dubon into even a league average hitter.

I'm not counting Presley as leverage anymore. He's the Montero of the present and future

The A's are trying to run up their payroll to not run afoul of the revenue sharing rules. Wonder if we can get them to take Montero's money? He doesn't even have to throw a pitch for them

I think the strategy is to be a playoff team capable of getting hot at the end and win the WS each of the next four seasons.

It is my opinion that if you trade Framber you can increase your 2026-2028 chances (provided you bring in a front line starter next offseason), but 2025 is no longer realistic.

I like all the moves, but I think I'd be against a Framber trade.

What would a productive Chazzy Fizz do for this offense? he posted 2.3, 1.3, and 3.6 WAR his first three seasons before the disaster of last year. If he can be close to the average of those first three, around a 2.0 WAR, wow.

That is my hope. Short of trading for a CF bat, my hope is that Chas can be the everyday CF in the 8/9 spot and return to previous form to lengthen the lineup.

I would love it if we could get Peña into the 9 hole.

Haven't heard anything on Grichuk. Only prediction I have seen is 2 years, $20M. I don't mind 2 years but $10M a year seems high given Kepler got that for only one year. Regardless, would have to trade someone to make that happen and stay under the luxury tax. His batted ball metrics were great this year and played about average RF defense depending on what metric you use. Local guy so seems like he'd be interested.

Chandler on 790 says barring any trades working out, no more signings on offense or in the rotation. Any other guys will be super low money or minor league deals with spring training invite to possibly make the big league roster
so we have 3 months to mentally prepare for another 500 at-bats from Jake and 400 at-bats from Dubon in 2025

there is hope that Chas can return to form

Maybe Espada will follow through on his comments about being too aggressive at the plate- starting with Meyers and Dubon.

Someone not currently on the roster.

As to the Grichuk reference, he is a lefty destroyer, which could pair well with a Heyward/Gamel.

1B and 3B are locked in.

All we need now is a power-hitting RF with a sweet stroke and a built-in fan base.

I'm going to miss Breggy, but anyone who pays attention and has watched him run and hit over the last few years can see Father Time is already working on him. He'll be using a Walker in six years at the rate he's going downhill.

2025 lineup

Altuve
Alvarez
Walker
Peredes
Diaz
McCormick
Pena
Doubon/Carantini (depending on who is DH vs LF)
Meyers

1-6 is really strong if McCormick can return to form. I think it's only a very small downgrade from last year's full health roster. McCormick may start in CF while we let rookies battle it out in RF

Yep. Success for that lineup will require Chas and Pena to take a step forward. Also the health of the top 5 will be paramount … zero depth behind them

Figured I'd share my favorite memory of watching Bergman in person:

Game 4 of the 2019 World Series when he hit that grand slam. The air left the stadium and the crowd started leaving. Was truly wonderful to see

Me too but that memory still sticks with me. My dad and I went to the game and he was in the bathroom when Breggy hit the slam and I texted him "KEEP YOUR ASS IN THE BATHROOM"
