Didn't we learn our lesson form the LAST ChiSox infielder we signed?

Moncada is about a "meh" as it gets. Might as well just roll with Dubon.

If that's the path we go, we better make significant improvements at 1B and add to the OF.

Yup. I have no interest in Moncada.

I'd be disappointed if Dana signs Moncado. He's injury prone.

Holy ***** How did Rooker beat out Yordan for the SS?

Brent had a great year and was close, but Yordan was clearly better.

Fairly even if you look across the triple crown categories and OPS.

Rooker was better in two, and Yordan better in the other two

Its pretty close. Rooker has a big edge in RBI, I suspect due to batting order.

Yordan vs Rooker 2024

WAR, HR, RBI, and SB favors Rooker.
Hits, BA, OBP, SLG, OPS+ favors Yordan.

Eh, I'd think Yordan deserved it, but it doesn't seem to be an egregious snub.

Yordan was better at getting hits, getting on base, and hitting the ball for extra bases. He walked more, struck out less, and hit the ball harder. The one-stop shop offensive categories wOBA, wRC+. OFF WAR all favor Yordan.

Just an FYI, Yordan has a better oWAR per baseball ref (the site you used). Rooker catches him mainly due to defense. I am not sure that should factor into DH SS.

Seems obvious that many still care about the traditional counting stats the most.

I'd imagine the people that are giving away these awards probably favored the old-school stats more than the advanced analytics that front offices probably favor.

Yordan will be a HOF. Rooker had a good year, but not in same league as YA.

Makes you wonder if that was just a load of bs, huh? Money talks I suppose.

By the time Strom had left, it was primarily Murphy and Miller working with the pitchers and Strom had more of an advisor role.

A lot of the credit fans give Strom really should go to Murphy and Miller. He actually told the organization that Houston needed to do whatever it takes to keep them both on board when he was on his way out.

At the end of the day, Strom wanted to be closer to home which was a big reason he took the Arizona job. I'm surprised to see him take a job in Pittsburgh, but some of these guys in baseball have a hard time stepping away.
