Something to monitor because the Astros are interested. How likely will he land in Houston? Not very much but something to watch. https://t.co/m9k6ytHWjC

In his 20's, maybe. I'm not counting on it now. And if you thought the early season starts were bad before, wait until you get financially uninspired Bregman.tjack16 said:MosesHallRAB04 said:tjack16 said:Ags #1 said:
If bregman wants 7 years you absolutely let him walk. The last 3 years of that deal would be crippling.
I'd give him 7. He'd be 37/38 when the contract is done and I think a move to second would benefit him in those late years. His plate discipline will always be there
Plus, if you think about it, in about five years or more 26 or $27 million will not be as much as it is in today's baseball. It'll be more to the equivalent of what 20M is now
But his plate discipline wasn't there this last year.
1 year out of 8 full seasons is an anomaly. So I'd imagine it comes back next year
Astros manager Joe Espada was with Yordan Alvarez in Spicewood, TX helping out the community.

The Astros and Bregman are $50M apart, according to @BNightengale. He says the plan is for Houston to "enhance" their offer soon.

My take, the Astros are still the favorites to land Alex Bregman.
Really shocked Kim isn't on the list of backup options, especially with some of the trash that is listed.EastCoastAgNc said:With Adames off the board, non-Bregman 3B options include:

Internal:
Dubon/Dezenzo/Whitcomb/Matthews (eventually)
Trade Options:
Alec Bohm
Free Agents:
Yoan Moncada
Paul DeJong
Gio Urshela
Brandon Drury
Jorge Polanco

If the Astros lose Alex Bregman in free agency, you can be assured that Phillies president Dave Dombrowski will be immediately on the phone offering Bohm for Astros reliever Ryan Pressly who's being extensively shopped.

I'm not sure when the time to make a decision is, but the Astros need to be proactive. Do not let Boras manipulate you against the field. Give your best offer, then pivot if others are willing to sign. The worst thing is to be held hostage and left holding an empty bag.
But, I hate playing poker and am not good at it. I'd rather light $1,000 on fire and get it over with, lol. Definitely not a job for me.

The problem now is that the last good third base option on the market is Alex. The are no others now that adames is signed. That time has passed already I'm afraid.

Why do so many have such strong opinions about him
Not coming back even after Houston made a big offer, confidence from Dana, Espada, etc, and no one else offering him yet? It feels completely different than Springer or Correa offseasons.
