I've been meaning to give everyone an update on the status of the fraudulent handicapped parking signs at the home of the four wheeling, cheese dipping, hedge trimming, fake permitting, crewcut hair wearing lunchbox lesbians. Unfortunately the signs are still standing and to this date not one car has ever parked there - handicapped or otherwise.

The street is under construction and something sort of funny happened last week. The lunchbox lezzies are quite proud of their manicured lawn - they like to mow the grass often and keep everything nice and trimmed. Well, everything was lovely in Lesbian La La Land until this big earthmover piled a huge hill of dirt on their lawn. You should have seen all of the activity at that house! It was as if someone poured gasoline on a problem ant hill. There were panicked, energized lesbians everywhere! I've never seen so many outside of a Comets game...they must have been in the middle of a huge cheese dip party or something.

To sum up...let's just say the huge mound of soil did not sit well with the lesbians - in fact I think their queso might have gotten cold during all of the hoopla...

Wow, sorry I missed this thread.

Two valid points...

1. The cities I have worked as a traffic engineer have allowed designated handicapped parking on the street ONLY if there is insufficient parking on the property. Looks like there is plenty of space to me. Now Houston is pretty screwed up as far as laws, so they might not have been smart enough to figure this out.

2. My mom makes the BEST cheese dip ever. I had no idea why until reading this thread, thanks for connecting the dots for me.

I know the person who approved the signs, and I can tell you first hand is is a very smart, talented engineer.

So am I.

Ask him this question. Why take public parking a way from an area that is already having parking problems, when the people applying for the license have plenty of parking already on there premises? Everyone should agree that it makes no sense. Handicap parking is to provide close access to a building. They already have private parking that is closer than the designated handicapped area.

Someone should do an open records request for the application, just for giggles, and to make sure there claims are legit.

Justifying can take a lot of forms. They could easily have passed all the criteria, but "forgotten" to mention that they have a huge driveway you could park a barge in. I'm sure the city engineer that approved it didn't go out and check it out before he OK'd it.

so sorry Ryan the Temp, I didn't know you were the cool guy, or that you would take such offense at a slight to your great cities staff. Of course, compared to my current location, Houston looks pretty good. but it doesn't take a whole hell of a lot to beat Kabul.

I wasn't offended; I was defending a colleague who I know to be a smart guy who makes good decisions. Yes, we do have some City employees who fall below expectations. This guy is not one of them.

This is the magic answer. Anyone can do this under the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA). Given my position, I should not put in the request. If anyone else wants to, I can tell you who to send it to. Cost is $.10 per page for the records.

The request must be in writing (email is fine as long as you specify TPIA). You can email it to roberto.medina@cityofhouston.net.

You will need to include which records you are seeking, and the address associated with those records.

I think a neutral party should file the request. I live across the street and am trying to protect my huevos and my corvette. Obviously the signs are not needed since no one ever parks there (handicapped or otherwise). These lunchbox lesbians merely figured out a way to prevent neighbors from parking in front of their house on a street that already severely lacks in parking.

My friend lives around the corner from the fake handicap lezzies.

When he first told me about them, I vomited in my mouth a little at the thought of 2 old handicapped bulldykes scissoring in their hospital beds.
