Yes but it doesn't matter if he wasn't looking, pass isn't close, etc… holding the receiver negates that. Because if he didn't get held, he could have been part of the route/pass

I understand that.

To expand, refs do make up calls all the time. The prior penalty was BS so maybe let that hold go bc he was not who Dak was looking at anyway

Of course, that would require critical thinking by the refs and they have shown they suck.

the refs aren't looking at who the QB is looking to throw the ball to when calling holding, nor should they. One thing has nothing to do with the other.

A lot to complain about with these refs today but this isn't among them.
