Him and Miller could be a pretty potent backfield.

Kid is a freight train, great change up from Miller. Such a sad story about his son.

Then think of him as a Texas City Stingaree instead of a horn.

Dude is a playmaker. Terrible about his son. Can't even imagine. To be able to go through that while keeping it out of the limelight and still produce is a credit to him and his dedication.

Might be a sip but glad he is staying here in Texas.

Solid, solid pick.

Some of y'all are hooked on college affiliation, who gives a f***. If there was a reincarnation of Bucky Richardson and he won games for the Texans I wouldn't give a flying f***.

Absolutely not. Hate that he's a sip, and slightly concerned about the workload Charlie dumped on him. But that story is something else.

Best thing will be to split time with Miller and keep his legs fresh this year. Wish him the best. Great value in the third round.

Are there no o linemen available? Seems like we need help there.

Foreman is a great pick here. Bruiser to compliment Miller as a change of pace back. No reason to pass up a valuable piece in order to reach for a lineman

This is a very weak OL class. Probably can pick up some FAs that would be just as good as anything you're going to get at this point.

We definitely do, but maybe the Texans know more about Newton, etc. than we do.

That being said, this is the weakest OL draft in history. Just no one to pick. Can't reach. The biggest problem is now we can't address it next year since we have no picks. Going to have to be FA next year, and literally the top priority two years from now.

I'm just glad we finally got a legitimate power running back that can run between the tackles. I got sick of seeing Lamar Miller get stuffed on every inside run.

Quote:

GM Rick Smith: "We feel like we've added two good football players so it's been a productive night.

Rick Smith called D'Onta Foreman a "productive" running back and thinks he will add balance to the running game and offense.

HC Bill O'Brien: "Zach Cunningham was a very productive tackler at Vanderbilt. He'll be a core special teams player. Versatile, tough kid."

O'Brien on Cunningham: "I think he can play both outside and inside linebacker. He'll also help us on special teams. Versatility a big key."

O'Brien was impressed with Foreman, a top prospect, showing up to local pro day. Is a productive tackle-to-tackle runner on 1st & 2nd down.

Smith on Foreman: "He was the highest guy still rated on our board. He was one of the guys on our wish list. Excited to have him."

Smith on RT Newton: "With respect to Derek's injury, he's still rehabbing. We have a lot of confidence he can come back from that."

I don't get it. Why would you waset a pick on a sip running back. Name one decent one in the pros? They are usually Benson busts. Stupid

Why did Tampa waste a pick on one of our defensive backs? Name one decent one in the pros.

Each player is different there, bud.

Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams, Priest Holmes, Jamaal Charles...

Earl was a different time and took advantage of weak defensive
Ricky was all hype
The rest are scat backs.

Give me a break

Pretty sure they all carried the load. None of them were situational.

Damn, i was about to say ya'll are responding to a Pony Tail troll but this one joined in 2006.

Either this guy is legit or that crafty son of a ***** has been playing the long game on this one.

Best thoughts and couldn't agree more:

Quote:

Foreman finds the yards that Lamar Miller left on the field last season.

Cunningham fills LB coverage void that fans/media have begged for.

Also since OB took over the Texans, the Texans have had the second most rushing attempts..

Wonder what happens with Blue now

I like the pick in the 3rd. Foreman is a good player that basically carried that offense the last couple years when none of their other skill players stepped up. His OL at tu was pathetic too.

He hasn't caught a lot of balls out of the backfield, but they also barely had a QB so it could be a function of that. Needs to get better about seeing the hole develop. But he's a tough kid.

Having Miller and Foreman getting 30+ carries a game will help take pressure of Savage to start the season and Watson by week 6 when he starts.

Hopefully cut or relegated to special teams. Blue is pretty awful IMO.

I was hoping the Texans would get a RB in the 3rd, but I worry that he will have a short career given how many miles Strong put on him.

This is why I love the pick. Lamar slowed down a bit down the stretch and it behooves us to be able to pound the rock and play defense with whichever QB runs out there.

Just down the stretch?

I never watched Miller that closely until he joined the Texans last season... he's a big bag of 'meh' for all the hype he's gotten over the years. I hope Foreman isn't just spelling Miller, but actually takes over for him immediately.

What worries me about the Texans is, while I like the Watson pick and moves they've made this offseason, it feels like the organization thinks they are a QB away from being a contender... I think they've got a lot of work to do. I hate that they let Bouye walk... he was maybe their best defensive player last year in my opinion, they seem to be putting the future of their skill positions in Fuller and Hopkins and possibly Miller... think all 3 are a bit overrated. Line is ok, but its best player is aging. I dunno... just feel like their team is ok and probably in the playoffs again, love the QB moves they made... but feel like they are still investing in the wrong players.

OL and DB are the areas that concern me most moving forward. We are setup well in the defensive front 7 and offensive skill positions.

We really need Nick Martin and Kevin Johnson healthy and productive this year. I will feel a lot better if those guys end up hitting.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I really like both picks. I think they're both very good players who fit real needs.

Gotta admit, I wouldn't be disappointed if we took Bucky Hodges today. There are some developmental OTs out there as well.

I wouldn't say their OL was pathetic, especially you last year. The LT they have will probably be a 1st rounder when comes out, provided he continues to develop.

I followed him a bit in Miami and he did some pretty special things.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MillLa01.htm

The problem is that he was never required to be a bell cow there, if you look at those stats he has a very healthy yards per carry but the volume of carries was pretty low relayivelyv to what we gave him this past year.

I'm not ready to give up on him because of how bad Brock was. There were a few games last year where Miller had a higher yards per carry than Brock had yards per attempt.

ATM9000
How long do you want to ignore this user?
But that's sort of the point... He's a top 10 paid rusher in the NFL... And he's basically Felix Jones. It's a poor resourcing by the Texans... Which is also why I have no problem with them not spending this offseason. They tend to spend their money really poorly.
