I was at Disney Hollywood Studios this past Saturday and literally everyone in the park had on star wars clothes, light sabers, bags of star wars toys. You could even buy a $4000 Darth Vader costume if you were so inclined. The Star Tours ride was great, with a few new scenes it has several hundred combinations for repeated rideability. Disney is going to make a fortune off of this franchise. They are going to add 14 acres to Studios devoted to star wars. (They are also planning 11 acres for a toy story land so Hollywood studios might be the park to go to in a few years time if you are headed that way)

Bought tickets for Thursday afternoon to go with my brother and that was because all the Wednesday showings were nearly sold out. Even the Christmas eve showings were nearly full.

FYI by the way calendars work...2009 dates for Avatar release were exactly the same as SW:TFA.

It's a stunning number and it validates TFA as a holiday-type performer instead of a front-loaded blockbuster-type performance.

It will make $30MM a day (except for maybe Christmas Eve) and may clear $200MM this upcoming weekend.

It will make $30MM a day next week as well, and may clear $150MM on New Years weekend.

EVERY single record is in jeopardy, and I think it breaks them all.

It may clear $500M by the end of its second weekend.

May be time to start asking if this has a legit shot at $900M.

Zero doubt remaining that it tops Avatar and clears 800.

Episode IV made about $1.45B domestically

Episode I made $750MM.

$750MM will be easy money for TFA.

I think it beats Avatar domestically, but its going to be tough to beat it world wide. 2.7 billion is just an insane amount of money.
