Rooting for a meteor. One large enough to destroy the Hoover Met but small enough not to affect anything else. Gets rid of LSU, UT and best of all, we'll get a new venue for the SEC Baseball Tournament.

I'll be pulling for the meteor at every swamptard/tu football game

If not a meteor, a giant sinkhole will suffice

No I didn't. Thus why I asked it.

So because they are Texas, they'll be a number 2 seed even with a 48 RPI?

Ok. So if they don't get a number 2 seed, what's the reasoning for that?

Just trying to understand the seeding process better.

They're not. But their 2nd place finish, and 20 conference wins in the #3 RPI conference help. They'll be right on the 2/3 line.

the Texas paranoia on this board runs rampant. Ignore it. They beat OU and oSu down the stretch, finished the season with a sweep of Kansas so they were relatively hot until the tournament.

They're kind of an RPI outlier because they did pretty well against the better teams not they were hammered dog sheet against Q4. So the committee will have to determine which half of the resume is the real team.

Which was kinda my question about them. Do the 8 Q4 losses not offset the conference finish?

The resume seems to me like a rock solid 3. But what do I know. I'm just trying to remember anyone with a 40+ RPI that ended up as a 2. There probably have been, I just don't remember them

Indiana State eliminated from the MVC tournament -- that's a big one

Evansville is another bid-stealer

taking a closer look at #47 Georgia Tech...

the Yellowjackets went 15-15 in the ACC with series wins against Duke, N.C. State, and Virginia (on the road)

also played series vs. Clemson, UNC, and FSU; so the 15-15 mark is legit

Tech's big negative is its 202 non-conference SoS

but overall their resume compares very favorably to the Big 12's bubble teams

speaking of Big 12 bubbles...

starting to wonder how safe TCU is at RPI #40

under .500 in conference at 14-16...and finished in 9th place

swept UH and Baylor to salvage their conference record

best series win is against Kansas State

Excellent summary! Thanks

Go Tarleton (our potential four seed) and USCw (another win against "teams in the field" if they can pull it off).
Just announced in the broadcast that Tarleton is not eligible for the NCAA Tourney, so if they win it'll be Grand Canyon that earns the auto-bid.

just for fun...looking at last year's 2-seeds in regionals...

on selection day...A&M was RPI #30 when picked as the 2-seed at Stanford

TCU was RPI #33 when selected as the 2-seed at Arkansas

Maryland was RPI #35 when assigned to top seed Wake Forest's regional

Oregon State was RPI #37 as the 2-seed in Baton Rouge -- the lowest RPI of any 2-seed

so the committee did not reach for 2-seeds -- basically picked them from the next group of 20 teams

I'd say the horns are going to be a 3-seed

the three 2-seed matches for the College Station regional based upon geography and RPI are:

#23 DBU
#28 LaTech
#37 Lafayette

Catcher was late getting to 3rd and 1B didn't cover home.

Great play by base runner and CF that came down to a foot race.

Does Jay Johnson have to serve a suspension today?

Oh hmmm. Any reason given why? Maybe umpires decided they were too hasty to throw him out? Johnson wasn't doing anything physically threatening, so I figured he had to have dropped some very filthy language, because they were just talking and umpire suddenly tossed him.

Just saw a tweet from the SEC saying he is allowed to coach today. No reason given.

As long as we're a top 8 seed (and I consider us a lock), I'm happy.

Down with Vandy!!
Just curious, why?
the Whistler is now than enough. Just like your experience at LSU why doesn't Vandy stop it? It's assault to all listening. Just awful.
Fair enough. I have not seen any Vandy posters suddenly appear on here when they go on a winning streak.

Have you?

Agree. There are a select few fan bases that do that. We have witnessed one such group.

An inquiring mind might wonder where they have been all season.

Weird.

From NCAA 2-26, it's a little vague, but it appears the head coach doesn't have to serve a suspension for ejection unless the on field crew or conference administrator deems necessary. There's are specific suspension provisions for players and non-head coaches but no suspension language for head coaches.

I tried to get it on track once... I'll try again.

Duke demolishing FSU 14-4 in the 7th. That would lock up a host spot for me. Sorry MissSt.

Southern Miss hours a 3 run bomb and bats 8 in the first... Thinking they are going to cruise. Not so fast. GaSouthern has hit TWO HRs in the b1. Tied at 3 and still batting.

Nebraska edged PSU 2-1 to clinch the auto bid and bubble teams everywhere rejoice.

Edit: make that 3 HRs for GaSouthern. Up 4-3 and Southern Miss going to the pen in the bottom of 1st.
