Filter the list for winter and pick one to your liking.

I made something for a Christmas party yesterday. Its basically an Infante with some cranberry syrup and bubbles added

2 oz tequila
.75 lime juice
.75 Orgeat
.5 cranberry syrup
Top with champagne/sparkling cider, whatever floats your boat.
Garnish with the cranberries you steeped in the simple syrup and a sprig of rosemary. Dust em with sugar for a snowy effect.

My favorite winter cocktail is a Negroni variant.

One part Hampden Rum (Smith and Cross or Appleton would work as well as long as it has that Jamaican funk)
One part Amaro Nonino
One part Carpano Antica

I forgot to add the club soda, but probably would've watered it down anyway.

Thank for sharing. And great choice on the benchmark FP. Really good value, especially for mixing.

Looking for an Espresso Martini recipe.

I also do not have an espresso machine to make fresh espresso.

Might take a little extra work then I bet. Maybe you can do an extra fine ground pour over to do this?

Not the most complicated cocktail. All the ones I have seen tend to revolve around this base style. You'll see random recipes about people switching out an ingredient here or there, or riffing on it in some other way.

I've used this in the past. Beats having to purchase a machine.

I've started making lime "super juice" using lime, citric acid, and Malic acid. I'm not going to pretend to understand the chemistry behind the oleo citrate, etc., I just know it works and tastes basically the same, if not better. It's fridge stable for at least two weeks and keep more in the freezer. Can get ~ 8oz of juice out of one lime.

Here's a couple videos. First is more of the background/original approach and the second is a good way to scale it.

I made this last night. Testing it out this evening. My limes were not the freshest.

Wow never heard of this. Where did you source your malic acid?

I called the local homebrew supply and he sells it by 2 oz packages. I would check there because it's used to treat homemade wine.

I previously searched a few fancy grocery store websites (think Whole Foods/Central Market) with no luck. Searched the web for ideas that weren't by the pound at Amazon and brew supply shop popped up.

First pass and the cocktail (Mai Tai) is weak. It could be too much ice or wrong rum choice. Was also trying to kill a bottle. I'm making another batch with fresh limes. The peeling is much easier.

Went back with a known great recipe and used the new juice. It seems to taste much better. The lime has more depth of color than my previous batch.

Left is the new batch and right is yesterday's batch with older limes. Same number of limes (3) gave me 14.5 grams more peel by mass. More zest and oil equals better flavor. Same number of limes (3) made nearly a quart of juice the second time around.

Pecan Old Fashioned

Bourbon (I used WT Rare Breed for this one)
Pecan simple syrup
Angostura bitters
Orange bitters

For the simple syrup, boil 1.25 cups of water. Add 1 cup brown sugar and half cup of fresh pecans. Reduce to simmer for 25 minutes, let cool then strain into mason jar.

Mix 1oz simple syrup, bourbon, and bitters over large ice rock in a lowball glass. Garnish with orange peel and candied pecans.

Can't believe I haven't seen this one on this thread, been making these lately...

Blood and Sand

Highland scotch (I prefer Tomatin 12)
Cherry herring (I use juice from my brandy cherries instead)
Sweet vermouth

Add all ingredients to a shaker w/ ice
Shake until chilled

I've been enjoying this Irish take on a Manhattan.

Dubliner

2 ounces Jameson Black Barrel
1/2 ounce Grand Marnier
1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
3 dashes orange bitters
Garnish: 1 Luxardo Cherry

Add the whiskey, Grand Marnier, sweet vermouth and orange bitters into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.

Strain into a chilled martini glass.

Garnish with cherry.
