Little 24 hour gin infusion I did last night and dumped today.

Does it change color when you add lemon?

I tried that out in a cocktail and it was very slight. But the tea mixture wasn't very strong.

Went to Pier 6 in San Leon tonight for our early Valentine's. Old Fashioned was solid as always.

San Leon is such a dump.

But I love going there.

I had a cocktail Monday night that was a riff on an Old Fashioned that had a tart cherry simple syrup in it. They told me how they make the syrup (it's 1:1 tart cherry juice and simple). Besides using it in an Old Fashioned and a French 75, what other cocktail derivatives could I use this for?

It is, but it may be changing. There was a nice big house in the process of being built down the road from Pier 6.

Try it in a Sour. Or add a bit to a Manhattan. There are other good options but start there.

Not a huge fan of manhattans, but the sour is an excellent idea.

Maybe replace the Luxardo liqueur with it in a Papa Doble/Hemingway Daiquiri?

Honestly I'm not either. I like some Manhattan riffs ok with Amaros tho.

I'd try the tart cherry as a riff on an aviation and I think it could pair with yellow chartreuse well.

I also think it could balance out over sweet pineapple margaritas or similar.

I tend to like citrus, bitter, tart, boozy. So always looking to adjust the overly sweet.
HTownAg98

Same here. I often find that places make most cocktails too sweet (makes sense, as they go down faster and people will drink more). Just get the sweet, sour, and bitter balanced out and I'm happy.

Warwick Valley Distillery in New York makes a really great sour cherry cordial that is likely pretty similar to a tart cherry simple syrup, but about 20% ABV. I bought a bottle from there on a distillery tour about 9 years ago. If memory serves, it mixed well with a gin and tonic. Also good in cosmos.

I'd mix first before the ice.
But I'm just a stick in the mud.

Get it on with Bonne Maman:
2oz Gin, .25oz Elderflower, .5oz Lillet Blanc, 1oz lemon, .5oz egg white and a Tbsp of Bonne Maman Four Fruits (or Raspberry) preserves.

Sort of a Clover Club riff.

Anybody here played with Chat GPT and cocktail creation?! I asked it to give me a "Strawberry Shortcake" recipe. After several iterations I came to this:
1.5-2oz Vodka
.75oz Strawberry Syrup (with retained berries...I didn't remove them).
.75 Cherry Liqueur... This is where it gets tricky. I made my own years ago and didn't write down the recipe sadly. I'll never be able to duplicate it.
1oz Cream
Shaken and served with fresh strawberry garnish.

Sub in anything besides Tabasco swill

Recommend Tucan Habenero as my new fave. It's not super hot.

For national Margarita Day, the Patron cocktail:

1.5 oz PATRN Silver
1 oz Citrnge Orange Liqueur
.75 oz Fresh lime juice
.25 oz Simple syrup
+ Lime wedge for garnish
+ Kosher salt (optional)

Is pretty good. Except not using patron silver, but I did have a random bottle of Citronge. Added 1oz fresh lime, and 2 dashes orange bitters. And 2oz tequila.

So, maybe 45% of their recipe.

Last night I made a Marg with equal parts Sotol, Tequila and Mezcal as the spirit component. I also made an avocado rita but didn't snap a pic of that one.

Avocado just sounds awful. My sister swears by them at that place in Austin.

Yes, that's the one. Don't knock out till you try it. Avocado just gives it a nice creamy texture. It's not like you're adding guacamole to it!

I need a new bottle of Mezcal for a cocktail I'm making over spring break. I know Del Maguey Vida is legit, but are there any other bottles y'all would recommend?

The cocktail is from Jordan Hughes' Twist:
1 oz reposado
1 oz mezcal
.75 lime juice
.75 carrot juice
.5 oz jalapeƱo agave syrup

If you are going to make cocktails, Montelobos Espadin is good at a good price.
