Friday night my wife and I went to Tiki Tatsu-Ya in Austin. All drinks were great. Next time I think we will get dinner before or after and leave the tiki bar to light snacking and heavy drinking.
First drink was the Daquiri of the month. It's a basic Hemingway Daquiri using a nice Foursquare Fijian rum. The top shelf rum adds a nice mouth feel depth of flavor and a silky finish.
We did a shared cocktail for round two but I the lighting was very low and I didn't get a great photo.
Final cocktail, the one I really didn't need, was a Zombie. Lots of rum in this one and I could taste it. Not the best Zombie I've had but certainly still good.
The entire bar is setup with automated lighting which changes throughout the night. They also have music and light display if you order a very large shared drink.
The main thing you see is the large sculpture at the center of the bar. There is a projector that constantly changes the color and animates insects, lava and other things on the sculpture. The bar is well done and is very popular. They boot you after two hours no matter what.
