I like it.

Today I made a Nuclear Daiquiri. One of my favorite drinks.

1 oz Overproof Rum Wray & Nephew
.75 oz Green Chartreuse
.25 oz Velvet Falernum
1 oz Lime Juice

I also like to add 0.25 oz simple syrup to cut some of the bitterness of the lime.

Shake with ice and strain. Lime wheel garnish.

Yeah I'd think you'd need at least a little simple or it's gonna be pretty damn tart!

I posted as a separate thread but Green Chartreuse was on the shelf at my local Twin. Get it while its available. I bought a backup bottle cuz I may not see it again for awhile.

Grilled Lemon Bourbon Smash

2 grilled lemon wedges
5 mint leaves
3/4 ounce simple syrup 1:1
2 ounces bourbon - at least 100 proof

Combine grilled lemons, mint leaves, simple syrup and
muddle.
Add the bourbon, ice and shake.
Double stain into a glass with fresh ice.

I made a riff on the Last Word that I haven't seen anywhere.

I subbed LALO Blanco Tequila for the gin in the Last Word. This results in a sweeter taste (less dry) than when using gin, so instead of the maraschino cherry you'd use for a gin Last Word, I added 1-3 Castelvetrano olives to balance the sweetness.

Need a clever name for it. Ultima Palabra seems to be taken.

Edit: I tried it with about 0.25 oz of olive brine and that balances it even more.

I think I'll call this the Palabra Cochina.

If you haven't gotten on the Enzoni bandwagon... then "toot toot" boys and girls! I made mine with cotton candy grapes. They were smallish so I used 7 instead of the prescribed 5. Earth shattering. If you didn't like Campari and it's collecting dust on the back of your bar is time to resurrect that bad boy. I defy anyone to say they dislike Campari after trying this cocktail!!!

Thanks SpiderDude

That looks amazing! Replacing the Campari with Aperol seems like a good idea.

Yum. Did you go with the WT 101?

That's what I always have for cocktails

Think it's a little too much lemon, might cut that back next round.

I make a similar - sweeter - cocktail based on a paper plane. Equal parts bourbon, aperol, st Germaine.

I'm going to have to try that. My wife hates bitters so the sweeter the better.

Do you have the recipe? Or is that all the ingredients? Thanks.

Stumbled upon "The Elk Room", a speakeasy in Baltimore.

Fool's Gold: Buffalo Trace, cherry, almond, lemon, honey and eucalyptus.

I can use some help reformulating a Mexican martini recipe. A friend of mine wants to cut back on drinking (she wants to lose weight and doesn't sleep well when she drinks) but she likes the taste of Mexican martinis. Here's the base recipe:
2 oz tequila
1 oz triple sec
1 oz orange juice
1 oz lime juice
1 oz olive brine

Combine everything in a shaker with ice, shake the bejeezus out of it, and serve up in a salt-rimmed glass.
As you can see, this is definitely on the drier and brinier side. I'm thinking I'm going to try an N/A tequila for this, as I think everything else can mask whatever off flavors an N/A tequila brings to the drink. Here's what I'm going to start with:

2 oz N/A tequila
1.5 oz orange juice
0.5 oz agave nectar
1 oz lime juice
1 oz olive brine
Dash orange bitters

Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions? I think I'm going to have to play around with the agave nectar and bitters to get the triple sec component right, and I'm considering tossing out the tequila completely if it's really bad. What do you replace that with?

I've had N/A tequila and it was absolutely awful.

Perhaps toss it out completely

That, and find other non juice drinks if she really wants to lose weight.

I lost a ton of weight drinking gin and lacroix

But at a certain point you gotta ask your self what's the point. Lol

Her main concern is not sleeping well because of drinking, which is why I'm trying to make this completely booze-free.
I realize this may not be possible, but it's worth a shot to see if it can be done.

I've actually had some good luck with CBD-infused non alcoholic rum and vodka. The taste profile is a little different than regular rum or vodka, so I only use them as mixers, but in my case I get a little mood lift from the CBD and it actually helps me sleep (maybe I'm a lightweight).

I've not tried CBD tequila, but I've seen it on the shelves.

Longtime lurker, first time poster. Last night I made myself a Bow and Arrow and I was really surprised how well mezcal and bourbon played with each other.

1 oz bourbon (i used Heaven Hill BiB)
1 oz mezcal (i used la luna)
.75 oz pineapple juice
.75 oz lime juice
.5 oz sugar syrup (recipe called for cane, but i used demerara that i made)

It was a little on the sweeter side i think bc of the demerara syrup. if i was making it again, i might use a higher proof bourbon since the HH is only 100, but otherwise, quite surprised how much i enjoyed it.
