I have wondered for a while if they should change the QO rules to eliminate penalties for signing them. Giving draft pick compensation for teams losing FA is fine, but the current system actually helps yhe richest. The current system movivates you to eithet sign no QO Free agents or sign multiple QO free agents, which only the mega payroll teams can afford.

Yankees swing and miss on Walker so guessing NY is where he ends up but probably for less that he wants. Although if the QO was scaring them away for Walker it may scare them from Bregman.

Love the deal ... Vastly improved defense at 1B (huge problem last season) and a good bat for the lineup. If we can go get one more bat for the lineup in the OF, this is going to be a very dangerous team. The window is still open, I will contend that the team this coming season will be a much better team on the whole than we had last season. I don't understand the "tear it down and rebuild" folks at all because this team still has tons of talent and is still favored to win the division. I feel the rebuild mindset is a product of being spoiled over the last decade and having one year where a lot of things didn't go right. This team is still absolutely a contender with a few additions, and in an org where you can't spend like the Dodgers, we still have to go for it when we have the opportunity.
They don't have the money. I think it's gonna be the Blue Jays or Red Sox. Blue Jays are desperate to make a splash.
