You guys shouldn't beat yourselves up about Game 7 2019. My wife lost us that game.

For our OF, one possible route would be to look at trading Pressly to the Dodgers for Outman. He had a bad year so they may look to move on but he's a lefty bat we can play in CF to platoon with Meyers. He's also been better away from Dodger stadium so change of scenery may help. His minor league statcast numbers last year support he could still be a righty killer type OF bat. You probably have to eat some money but you can use that money saved to sign a guy like Grichuk. I would assume the Dodgers are more tolerable for Pressly to waive his no trade as a WS favorite.

I was at every home game. Absolutely brutal.

Right there with you.

Yep. Game 1 I was just ecstatic to be at my first World Series game ever in person… didn't care that we lost because I thought "well we will win it in 5 or 6 now I guess"

Game 7 was the most sad/mad/disappointed feeling leaving the stadium… it was eerily quiet and then it started raining on me walking to the car. Horrible

I remember that sad/quiet feeling like yesterday and will never forget. It started in the 7th inning after Harris gave up the homerun. Stadium just died. We were only down 2, but crowd never got back in it. Sucked the life right out of the stadium. Then the long walk back to the car in the rain was so poetic for the night.

I can still feel the wind rushing out of the ballpark.

the thing about the 2019 world series...

how did it even get to game 7 in the first place?

the Astros pitching staff had quite a few bad games in the 2019 postseason

I was at 2019 games 6 and 7.

After 6 we still had hope for game 7.

After game 7 it was a terrible walk back to my car near 8th Wonder in the monsoon. The weather matched the mood.

The worst part for me was I was in the upper deck and you could see the gold confetti up above and where it was going to shoot out from. Every now and then a little piece would come fluttering down

If that's the case, better be your ex-wife! Hope you took her to the cleaners. Any sane judge would give you 100% of assets as already experienced unusual pain and suffering...

Leaving after Game 6 I jokingly told some of the folks I was walking with that we needed to petition MLB to get Game 7 back in D.C. as soon as humanly possible.

I didn't think it possible that we'd lose all four at home...and then we did it again in 2023.

Game 7 is my one and only World Series game. Still sick about it

I'd definitely do that trade. Outman would be a gamble worth taking, especially if it meant we'd dump Pressly.

Was it one or two years ago where several of his clients weren't even signed as of opening day because he was playing such hardball?

Keuchel and Kimbrel ended up not signing until late June or July, when the QO tag came off.

Last offseason. Monty, Snell, Belli, and Chapman.

Wonder how much that ended up costing those guys.

Chapman ended up playing for around 20 last year than signed a 151 deal at age 31. 7/171 is actually really damn good and way better than any offers he got last offseason.

Even more successful story for Snell. 32 M last year then signed a 182 deal. 6/214 is a monster deal. Better than Fried.

Monty and Belli were the losers of the bunch, but they still got some money before falling off. They still have a shot to redeem a little.

If you're Bregman, you've got to be sweating a little at this point.

If only a team had offered him a fair offer in a town he's familiar with, and with players who's gotten close with over the past 8 years

Has Houston taken the offer off the table?

I don't see how it hasn't. We're all full up at 3B, 2B, and 1B (where Paredes would move).

Hypothetically, if Bregman is fine with the Astros initial offer, could we sign him and stick him in LF? If I remember correctly, he was getting playing time in LF in the minors before he was called up to the Astros since we already had Valbuena (RIP) playing 3B. Granted that was a long time ago...

It would put them way into the luxury tax. There's no way it's happening now. He had his chance.

Absolutely not. It won't happen, but in that hypothetical, Paredes would be playing in LF.

I was curious what we would do with Paredes if we did sign Alex, at this point.

I agree with you, though, that it doesn't seem plausible they are still trying to get him back.

Edit: looks like ketch answered my question
