Stein confirmed he is hearing DJ/Collins are happening.
In talking with multiple sources around the NBA, many believe Hawks on verge of trading for San Antonio's All-Star guard Dejounte Murray - However, it's looking like John Collins is not part of deal. Would be Gallo & multiple 1st round picks. Spurs prepping for future & '23 draft

Word is the front office thinks Primo is special. It's going to be his year of being thrown into the fire. It will get him good experience and build chemistry with our young guys and teenagers while FINALLY getting out of the middle of the pack and getting a good draft pick.
I also bet we use cap space to absorb contracts and acquire even more draft assets. And try to flip those contracts for more assets throughout the year. Doesn't make sense getting guys in FA.
Unsure how substantial the most recent report is, but the reason the Spurs would take back Gallinari from the Hawks is to get more draft capital. They can just waive him before his partial guarantee fully guarantees. Makes less sense to get less back for a win now John Collins

You beat me to it. I wonder what our plan at PG will be if we do trade Dejounte? I like Tre Jones, but he's not a starting caliber PG. do we take a flyer on a guy like Collin Sexton in free agency?

Spurs would be best suited to move guys like Murray for future picks / assets and go Winless for Wembanyama next draft.

By the way, supposedly the Knicks offered multiple future first rounders.
Way better than the supposed Hawks deal.
Only way it makes sense is if Collins would be going to some team who would be sending us a first that is highly likely to be a top 10 pick.

What can you get for Jakob? Zack Collins fully guaranteed next year means he'll start at C.
For what it's worth yes I love DJ but he's 26 and UFA in 2 years. Are we where PATFO thinks we need to be to contend before needing to lock DJ up to a max? The FA class this year...I don't think there's a max guy there worth pursuing this off season and it's not to say there are no good ones this year. I'm just saying THIS year's top FAs + current Spurs (counting DJ) still have a 50 win ceiling to me.

Two biggest rumors right now seem to be Knicks or Wizards.
Wizards deal supposedly is 3 FRPs, Deni Avdijua, and Rui Hachimura for Murray. Spurs may want Johnny Davis rather than Deni or Rui.
Give Washington a starting 5 of:
Kristaps
Kuz
KCP
Beal
Murray
Knicks:
Reddish/Quickley/Toppin +3 picks for Murray.
Gives Knicks a starting lineup of:
Robinson
Randle
Fournier
Barrett
Murray
A fan spitballing:
Kings get John Collins
Spurs get Keegan Murray + picks
Hawks get Dejounte Murray
Pretty sure Brunson would be the backup option to Murray.superunknown said:
Is Dj the Knicks fallback plan if they can't get Jalen Brunson?

They are for sure clearing up space for Brunson. Man that is not a max guy and that is why the Knicks are the Knicks.
Great point by Collin, the Pistons' max cap space potential drops to $21.3 million.

Looks like the Spurs are now the lone team that can offer Ayton a max offer sheet if they want to try to sign him. https://t.co/KbhfgfAIQX
