Spurs can be ensured of 10th lottery position with one more loss or one more NYK win. 9th position still in play depending how everything shakes out between NYK, WAS and SAS (ex: Spurs losing two remaining games). Assuming we lose the playin of course.

I've been too busy at work to look but I was curious how the playin ties in with draft position.
The lottery position of those that don't make the playoffs (even if they make the play in) is simply determined by record. We have the tie breaker with WAS and NOLA. NYK has tie breaker with us.
We presently have the 9th worst record, which is the lowest we can go. Really, even of we did shut it down a few weeks back, I think the best we could have done is 8th with the way everyone else was playing/tanking. So it is worth a shot for the team to get experience in the playin

Spurs want those last two losses to secure 9th worst record.

Keldon Johnson, Jakob Poeltl, and Devin Vassell are all out as well.
Spurs are now guaranteed a 10th worst record with the Knicks win over Washington tonight. To recapture 9th worst, SAS will need to lose both or lose one AND WAS win their last game.
Edit: this isn't correct. I think regardless of head to head, an identical record tie breaker is determined by a coin flip. If spurs lose tomorrow they will lock up 10th worst. To lock up 9th worst they will need to either lose the next two or lose tomorrow and win the coin flip with Washington, assuming they lose their last game with CHA.

And of course Luka is suspended for the last game of the season against the spurs (16th technical received). Should make for an interesting last couple games KD the season.
Good thing is that Spurs can decide how to handle the last game because WAS-CHA game will already have happened although it would be in WAS's best Interest to throw the game.

It's gonna be a likely tie between Utah/Den/Toronto given each of their remaining schedule (Philly should handle their business). Coin flip would determine where the pick lands. Gonna be between 20-22.

Kind of surprised the Mavericks are trying to win this game after seeing the GSW/Nola score at half. Guess they value rhythm going into the playoffs more than a better draft pick.
And just as I say that Luka goes down with an injury. Hope he's okay.

Unless we comeback and win (then beat the clippers), we're still getting a lottery pick.
If this lights a fire under our team in the off-season to get better, it's worth it. We weren't going to be in much of a better draft situation even if we did 'tank'. And can we please draft a Herb Jones this year?
We had our chances... then inexperience shows as we start jacking up shots and passing recklessly 
Best case scenario is losing tonight or tomorrow. We get a top ten pick and get this experience.

Well we got cap room and 3 first round draft picks to play with... let's turn this roster around and get ourselves a playmaker on offense and rim protector!
We have a rim protector. The Spurs led the league in FG% allowed at the rim. I agree we need to land a special offensive player in this draft.

Lol like we would have tanked with DeRozan last year. To get to the same place as we did last year without DeMar and our vets is very encouraging. And we get a better pick this year.
I love Poetl and his effort/heart... but I think we either need to get a versatile 6'10/6'11 shot blocking PF to help on the defensive end. A player like Ivey would do wonders for us. I love Murray but I don't think he's the dynamic scorer we need to get over the hump. Maybe we found tonight in Vassell, but it would nice if we had someone who can create their own shot.Ag Natural said:

Better pick and picks* let's see what we do with them. Maybe a trade package or something similar to add a veteran!
I think it will be a package and/or draft and stash. Don't see the Spurs giving 3 guaranteed contracts next season.
