Non-covid illness
Some guy over at FourFourTwo is claiming that we are one of several EPL teams that are monitoring Robert Lewandowski's situation at Bayern. His contract expires in 2023 and Bayern doesnt want to give him more than a year extension. He will be 34 to start next season but has scored 30+ goals in all comps for the last 6yrs (including this season) and has scored 40+ twice in that same timeframe.
Also seen claims that Arsenal have been in contact with Sociedad in the last week or so about a summer purchase for Isak for less than the release clause. Supposedly Barca is interested in Isak as a backup plan to Haaland and Isak prefers a move to Barca as his first choice.
I've always thought this was a total pipe dream but, I'm just putting this out there....
If we catch fire and catch Chelsea and finish 3rd, is there any chance we could go big and convince Haaland to come? Martinelli was recently quoted as saying we will be one of the best teams in the world in a couple years (I agree), we would have Champions League, and he could play with is young Norwegian team captain in Odegaard. Maybe Abramovich is forced to sell Chelsea, Pep leaves City, and Liverpool's stars start showing their age....

Ive had the same thoughts but ultimately I think the chances are less than 10%. Even though its not my money, i dont like the 20-30m fees that his agent & father are requiring. On top of that, i think his salary demands will be too high.

Seems like a United move to me, but if we got a young stud as well I wouldn't be opposed. But I think we should really go big and relatively young at Striker this summer. Vlahovic would have been the exact profile I would want, maybe there's someone similar they have their eye on.
Guendouzi to Marseilles permanently is a done deal, not sure the price. I would've liked to see him back but I guess there were too many bridges burned. He's been playing really well at Marseilles.
Our current roster has Laca & Eddie at ST. If we make EL/CL we will need 2 solid ST plus someone that can rotate in a pinch (Martinelli?). Both Laca & Eddie have expiring contracts meaning we will need to sign 2 ST this summer. I 100% agree with signing a young stud but outside Vlahovic who would that be? Everyone else that has been linked has questions and all would cost 50+m. While I'm not suggesting that Lewandowski is 100% the route we should take, he will likely be cheap given his age and an expiring contract and he is currently on pace for his 7th straight year with 40+ goals and 40+ appearances. That doesn't look much like a guy slowing down. If you can snag him plus a young guy with upside for about the same price as one of the "young studs" with questions wouldn't that be a reasonable option? Replace Laca's leadership with another ST that has a chance to get you atleast 20+ goals and a young guy that is say 2 yrs away from being ready to replace him?Strangely Attractive said:

I think Haaland ends up at Barca or City. Barca seems to be saying they are good with all of the extortion demands. At this point it is just a matter of his desire to play in Spain and their ability to come to terms on salary.wangus12 said:

I agree, probably Barca or City, or maybe Madrid. But maybe Barca continues to have money problems and what if Pep leaves City. Who knows what's going to happen.

Thoughts on Calvert-Lewin? I've always kind of liked him but he's had a lot of injury problems lately. I like his age, physical profile as being complimentary to what we have on the wings, he's good in the air, and I like that he's an England international, but I'm not sure how "elite" he is.
