Got transferred to someone else and told her I was looking to get an smartphone, specifically the Moto Q. She offered me the online price for $99 and the vision pack for $20. Told her that would not work. When I asked about SERO, she said that was for new customers only.

This is totally incorrect. Anyone can get SERO. When a Rep says something like this tell them to check with their supervisor or just politely hang up and call again.

I actually do not have a SERO plan since I have a Family plan of 5 lines, but I pay only $5 for $15 PowerVision plan. Some people can get it even for free.

My wifes Katana shipped today but this is what it says about my Moto Q:

quote:
We are ready to ship your order.

The phone you ordered is extremely popular and we are currently moving additional inventory into stock. As soon as your phone is in stock, we will complete your order and ship it right away.

We apologize for this inconvenience; this process normally takes less than 72 hours. Once your order is ready to ship, we will send you an email and update this site.

This could be bad. My wife and I talk at least 40 minutes a day, if I'm stuck on Cingular and she's on Sprint for a few days, that could suck some serious minutes from her plan.

got the 1250 min plan for 49.99 and a 100 dollar bill credit to assist with the verizon contract fee. got the 7103e for 99 bucks and 300 free texts a month and FIMF. did not ask for the latter, but ill take what I can get. thanks dev, email sent about the 25 dollar thing
McInnis 03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Damn, I'm paying $5 a month for 300 text messages.

What is FIMF?
devastor

Good job! For some reason FIMF is hard to get, really don't know why. I don't even have it. FIMF is First Incoming Minute Free, I have added it to the Perks section. You will be surprised how many 1 minute calls you make. Also I sent you the e-mail about getting $25 back.

McInnis03
I also was paying $5 for 300 txt/month but I called and got 500 txt/month for FREE on 3 of my lines. You are in the perfect situation to ask for it. This is what you do. Call directly to Retentions and tell them that you just switched from Cingular to Sprint about a week ago and would like the status of your phones (again playing dumb). The rep will most likely tell your Katana has shipping by your Q is on backorder. Ask why, she wil give you an excuse, then tell that what you mentioned above, talk to your wife at least 40 mins a day, blah blah and kindly tell them you really need the phone.Once she gives you another excuse, pause but kindly agree that you understand.

Now state that you notice you will be paying $5 for 300 txt/month and is there anyway this can be lowered? I dunno how much you spent with Cingular on txt msgs but if you say something like Cingular was going to give me it for free to stay with them, or something to that affect. They will give it to you. Feel out the rep. But since you are a new customer coming from a competitor and already dealing with a problem by Sprint (phone being backordered), they are gonna want to make you happy!! Keep us posted.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I called *2 and asked them to switch me to the $30 SERO plan, she put me on hold for 2 min, came back and said it was done. I am not a new customer but my contract was up and I mentioned that I was looking at the TMobile Dash. They gave me a Motorola Q for $99 flat, no mail in rebate required. I did add 300 texts for $5, I should have thought to ask for free but I was so happy with the rest of the deal that I did not think to ask for more!
McInnis 03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I bet you get your Q way before I get mine I'm hearing bad things about inphonics, the company who handles the new SERO transactions.
devastor
How long do you want to ignore this user?
McInnis03 have to tired calling to get an update. Remember you can use this towards your advantage and ask for compensation!

BigAg
Great job. Even though you don't need a rebate doesn't mean you still can't send the rebates. Sprint still accepts them! For the txt messages the easiest one is e-mailing ecare. I was able to get the DIRECT e-mails and I have updated the first post under #6. Enjoy.

I should get the Q on Monday. I ordered that over the phone from the retentions dept a couple of days before I added the SERO plan.

I switched to sprint from verizon last wee with the SERO plan(49.99 for 1250 minutes). Ask about getting a 75 dollar credit for switching, tell em you are cancelling your contract and are gonna be out 175 bucks. If they dont give it up, then call again to a diff rep. I was able to get a 100 dollar credit and FIMF.

To everyone else. I got the 7103e blackberry and it just shipped on Friday, 3 days after I ordered. They are taking thier sweet A$$ time.

I'm going to call Inphonic tomorrow, but from my research, all they ever do is upgrade you to next day air shipment (whenever it eventually does ship) and give you the opportunity to switch your phone selection (which I'm not sure I'm interested in any other models).

Yes Power Vision is the data package, which is unlimited and free under a SERO plan. Even with a regular plan you can get it for free or really cheap.

Call Inphonics and upgrade to next day but also call Sprint and kindly explain the situation and you are "frustrated with it" Then ask for your free txt messages!

Hey devastator...do you think this SERO plan will be around in August? My contract doesn't end until then. Also, I do talk to my family a lot and they are with cingular so i'm not sure if I should switch unless I convince them all to switch. Could sero help out with that (would be a family of 5)? Thanks for the info...its been a great help.

P.S. Does this work with Nextel phones?

As of right now Sprint as stated that anyone can join a SERO plan until Dec. 2007. So you will be fine in August. SERO plans are for Sprint AND Nextel phones.

As far has using it to call your family on cingular. SERO is free starting at 7 PM weekdays. Some people have been able to get Sprint to give free calls starting at 6 pm, instead of 7pm. Another perk is FIMF (which is first incoming minute free.) This could help reduce your cost greatly.

I called Inphonic and they said it's out of stock and there is nothing I can do to help the situation. I asked if they would upgrade my shipping to overnight, they said if I call again in 3 days and it hasn't shipped they'll upgrade it. I then asked "so the 4 days I've waited is good for nothing?" the CS Rep said "That is correct."

What a bunch of crap. Wish Sprint would just send me a direct phone.

I did not get my phone today, so I called. I was told that they could not ship the phone until I paid them for it. I told them it was supposed to be billed to my account, and I was not going to give them any money until I had the phone. She put me on hold and came back and told me the phone would ship tomorrow, and the $99.99 cost would be billed to my account.

I asked if it could be shipped overnight or if I could go to a store and pick one up since I had already waited several days, and she said she could not do that but they would give me a service credit of $99.99 for the inconvenience. The credit is already up on my account, but still no charge for the phone. If it actually ships this time, it looks like I will get the Q for free!
McInnis 03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Wow, what a joke of a site. I called up the help line for the Inphonic/SERO order and offered to pay MORE to upgrade to a Palm Treo 700P as long as they could guarantee me it was in stock and able to be shipped today or tomorrow.

They proceeded to tell me it's not in stock either. This is a JOKE of an organization.

again, why haven't you called directly to Sprint? Forget about called Inphonics. Noticed everyone that call Sprint can get their situation resolved. You need to call directly to Sprint.
McInnis 03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I spoke with Sprint 3 times today. They were unable to assist in any way. I wrote them a note explaining how disappointed I am in their service and equipment supplying abilities.

This has been the worst cell phone experience I've ever had. Hopefully it will end soon with the supplying of my new phone, but if not, I'm just going to cancel the whole thing and stick with Cingular. They may drop my calls, but at least I've never been left out to dry like this.
BigAg95
How long do you want to ignore this user?
They finally charged the phone to my account today, so hopefully the phone is on its way!

It ended up costing me $1.00. But, I will get a credit when I turn in my old phone at the Sprint store, and I will send in the rebate form as suggested above and see what happens.
devastor
How long do you want to ignore this user?
BigAg95
Call them and ask for a tracking number. They will give it to you. They ship through UPS.

McInnis03
Sorry to hear you had having a bad time getting your phone. Remember the Q is the most popular phone that Sprint offers. So backorders are bound to happen. Didn't your wife already receive her phone?
Again, make the best out of this situation and call and tell them you are disappointed with them and ask for compensation. You tell them you are thinking about cancelling and they will give you the free txt msgs and other perks. BigAg95 got his phone for free! Just remember to be patient and polite.

Vero143

the data plans dont apply to blackberry's, fyi

I told them I'm already contemplating canceling (which I am) and they said that it's my option and I have 30 days to do it starting April 19th. They're not interested in keeping me. If my phone doesn't ship soon I'm going to cancel because I want to try out their network and INphonic only lets you return a phone with up to 30 minutes on it and 15 days after it's shipped. So unless I can test both phones on the network in time enough to return the first one, I'm not going to keep the service.

you are correct, it is only for regular data plans, not blackberries. I have reflected this in the first post so there will be no confusion.

BigAg05
Send me an e-mail at rsoto04 @ gmail.com and I can give you my phone # and instructions for the $25 referral for the both of us.
McInnis 03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Jackpot! It shipped today. Maybe I made too much of nothing.
Vero143
How long do you want to ignore this user?
no worries. if you call and add the data plan between now and August, it is about 35 bucks. they told me 44.99 and i said, well i wann trade this phone in. about a minute later she said, well i can do 35.99. so i signed up.

one tip if someone else gets a blackberry. make sure you go to the sprint store and have them set up the internet/email. the phones sometimes do not come loaded with the internet application on it and you will waste tons of minutes figuring it out through customer service.
the enigma
How long do you want to ignore this user?
so is the data plan the same as internet on the phone and is it included or do you pay for it? Im so confused!
