I love my Treo 755. I had the 700 before it. It does everything you need it to do. I don't think there is anything "overkill" about it. Easy navigation on the web and no problems checking email IMO

Hey guys,

I know I need to update the rebates but just read this and thought it was really interesting.

Sprint Nextel agrees to start unlocking phones

If this gets finalized could open up the Sprint phone market BIGTIME!

Hey guys - update on my rebates. As I posted earlier, when I got my phones the service rep said she was giving me the mail in rebates up front so I didn't have to mail them in. I sent them in anyway, but they both got denied (mine and my wife's line). These were only $50 each.

In addition, I submitted both lines for the Kellogs Rebate and both of those were approved - the checks are in the mail.

All in all, I got both Katana DLX's for about $25 each after the rebates. I have yet to see a normal bill yet, but I expect it to be around $75 a month and with that I have my 1800 minutes that my wife and I share, unlimited nights and weekends starting at 9PM, unlimited power vision, 500 text messages per line (more than enough for us), etc. Not too shabby considering my bill with Sprint use to be $110 and I had no vision package, etc.

Thanks Devastor!

This is a ton of useful information. I have a few questions.

I currently have Sprint but my contract expires in two months. I would like to keep them b/c most of my family is on Sprint. I would like to upgrade the phone obviously.

1. I would like to check my email from my phone, in particular work email, which I can get from the web, or setup through outlook etc. Do I need a data plan for this?

2. I am currently on the SERO plan which I signed up for two years ago. It sounds like I may be able to talk them into continuing me. Is this correct?

I hope I can bundle everything together like some other posters have said. I don't really want a data plan, but maybe through Power Vision I can check all my email or send me new email reminders?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Power Vision is Sprint's data plan. If you are already a SERO customer, the SERO plans all have unlimited data on their plans.

If you just want to upgrade your phone, you should be able to just go to the SERO website and upgrade on there.

Also, if you are already a SERO customer you shouldn't have to talk them into anything, you should be able to just keep the plan forever until you discontinue the service. (Or at least that's how I understand it).

Has anyone had any luck getting their current Sprint # moved to a SERO plan?

Like the above poster I have 2 months left on my contract with sprint, but mine is a non SERO account and I really want to make it SERO. I have tried multiples calls and emails but they all tell me there is no way to do it.

If not, my plan is just to sign up for a new SERO account at the end of November, and then just tell everyone I have a new phone number. I will have both phones for one month just to catch anyone who tries to call the old one.

Thanks for the info. With the unlimited data plan can I access all websites? I just want to check my work email. Thanks.

Just an FYI but saw some Holiday retail signage shipping out to a major retailer that is dated for after Thanksgiving and apparently Sprint is getting ready to offer the Samsung Upstage for free w/ 2 yr contract. Not sure if this will be offered for SERO plans.

Alrighty, I went over the Sprint store a few days ago and spent 20 minutes or so with the Sprint Touch, and having messed around with it, I know that I want it to replace my A900... anyone else looking at it? It's $250 with a 2 year normally (and I think that's after a $100 rebate), but has anyone tried to see what kind of deal they can get with retentions?

Additional note, I'm around or a little past the year and a half point of my contract, so less than 6 months left, but I'd rather not wait.

Oh yeah it does! Here are third party programs you can use to stream/watch TV/media on your cell phone.

I am a Sprint customer, my contract is up and I want the SERO plan. I called retentions and specifically asked for the SERO plan and they offered me free text messages for 2 years instead and I declined. What do I have to do or say to get on the SERO plan?

SERO is supposed to be for new lines. Just sign up on the website.

Are you wanting to keep your phone number correct? If you do, then you have to make a big deal that you want to cancel your account since your contract is up and go with a competitor like Verizon or Cingular. Come up with an excuse why you want to cancel. Let them offer you something. Then kindly tell them that if you could get the SERO plan then you will stay with Sprint and even sign a two year agreement with them. (Make it sound like YOU are helping them out.)

It is not easy for current Sprint Customers to transfer to a SERO plan but has been done (BigAg95 just a few posts up). Be very polite, have patient and if you don't succedd the first time try, try again. Call them and also try through ecare. But if you are already out of contact and don't mind getting a new phone number then cancel your account, then go to the web site and sign up.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
So, my contract expires on the 8th of December of this year... and I already have an unlimited data and text plan that lasts all the way until 2009 because of a mess-up that Sprint had on my account (They added it without renewing my contract to make up for messing up). So my question is, can I get Sprint to give me a Moto Q at a reduced price (or possibly for free) to get me to stay with Sprint for two more years? They told me before that if I get a new phone, it wouldn't mess with my current plan (including the free stuff). If I CAN get the phone for cheap (FREE), what do I have to tell them?

***Can I tell them that I want a SERO plan and get a MOTO Q for CHEAPER than what it goes for? The lady in retentions gave me a price of $249.99. She said that the original price is $449.99 but she was giving me an "instant savings" of $200. I noticed that if I go to the website and act as if I'm a new customer, the original price is $449.99 but it comes with an "instant savings" of $200 plus a "mail-in" rebate of $100. Can I get Retentions to give me a lower price on the phone (all of this is on my current plan)? Or should I get them to put me on a SERO plan and also give me a cheaper price on the phone?

I TexAgs.

I just got in $910 in rebates from Sprint. I got 2 Treo 755p and paid $600 up front. So in essence I got paid $310 to lower my bill and get these sweet phones. I have to say, the coverage for me in B/CS is a lot worse than Verizon was, and the customer support sucks from Sprint, but when I am in a good coverage area, it is great. I don't know how I got by without this phone!

Anybody hear anything about the Moto Q 9c. To me it looks much more attractive than the old Q, but why did they put that battery bulking out the back?

I was going to order the wife and I Centros next week, but now I'm considering going with the new Q 9c.
Angry Beaver
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's exactly the phone I want... From what I understand, Sprint had originally said that it would provide free upgrades to it's phones using Windows Mobile 5 to Windows Mobile 6. I'm not sure why they backed out on the promise, but they came out with this new one.

It costs the same as the previous Moto Q, but this one has Windows Mobile 6 and an extended battery. That's why there's a bulge in the battery. I think it also comes with an extra battery pack.

Has anyone had this done? I've got the original Q and would love to upgrade to WM6.

RayRay99,

Which rebates did you use to get that much back? I am also looking at 2 of those phones. Thanks and Gig'em

The battery bulge on the new Q is an eye sore, but I think that's just because it's the extended battery. Hopefully you can just pop in the regular battery and make it nice and flat.

Also, from what I've read the new Q has the ability to edit word documents? Can anyone confirm this?

Also would be very interested to know the rebate specifics of the above poster. Very impressive!

I just used all of the rebates listed here. I should not have gotten that much back I don't think, but I am not complaining.

Just an FYI for people asking about current Sprint customers getting on SERO - I did it a couple months ago. I asked the first girl I talked to in Retentions about it and she said she would get me on it. When I called back a couple days later I had been placed on a different plan instead and couldn't get SERO. I called Retentions back, told them I wanted what I was promised or I was leaving. The woman fixed it.

so, if i want to get my wife a new fancy phone for christmas, and we're one year into our contract and have been longtime sprint users (> 8 years), is there anything i can do?

seems like we'd have to cancel our contract and get 2 individual SERO plans to make this work, or am i missing something.

Pretty sure your right on target what that one. Another problem is keeping your same number even though you have been with Sprint. My friend and his wife were out of contract and switched to the SERO plan and were told they could switch their number, but that never happened. I switched everything over and love it, but I was with Verizon before hand. I think it really just depends on who you get when you order you talk to someone. hth
devastor
How long do you want to ignore this user?
MW03,

There are two things.
#1 -There is no family plans on SERO.
#2 - Its harder to transfer existing Sprint customers to SERO plan.

If you want a SERO plan then yes you will have to get separate accounts for you and your wife. So if $60 for 1000 mins (that is $30 for 500 mins each) is cheaper than what you pay now that you might want to consider it.

As much as getting a new phone if you still have 1 year left; all you have to do is call Retentions and tell them that you are not satisfied with that phone, or that you like whatever phone that Cingular is offered and want to cancel. Really just whatever excuse you to use. Let the CSR offer you something then let the bargaining begin!!

I've been calling Retentions for a few days now and they don't seem to want to give me any kind of break even though I am not under contract and I say the magic words like "going to switch providers...". Today they wanted to just upgrade my plan (more money than now) for very little extra items. Any words of advice other than keep trying? Also I considered switching to a SERO plan via the website...I don't mind switching numbers...but I have a corporate discount now. How can I get it switched?
