How long do you want to ignore this user?
SERO IS NOW OFFICIALLY DEAD!!

GO TO http://sprint.com/sero TO SEE IT HAS NOW BEEN CHANGE TO EVERYTHING PLUS.

To get in you need an Sprint employee's e-mail address and the last 3 digits of employee ID. To enter the web site use the following info.
E-mail: Russ.S.McGuire@Sprint.com
CID: 383

Since many people have had tons of questions about Sprint and the SERO plan. I am putting this thread FAQ together to help and also to answer any question you post. I will constantly update this thread. Enjoy!! Remember Instinct & Palm Pre will not work with the SERO plans

THE NEW SERO PLANS

On this day SERO will be shut down (as we know it now) - and in its place "Simply Everything Plus". This includes what SERO has, plus GPS Navigation.

Everything Plus Referral 500 is going to be $59.99
Everything Plus Referral 1000 is going to be $79.99
Simply Everything for $99.99 will still be an option

The 500 minute plan for thirty dollars and for 1250 plan for fifty dollars will expire on 7/10/08. Customers on these plans will be grandfathered and remain on the plans, but all new SERO activations will be on the new plans.

SEP plans will include Sprint TV and GPS Navigation. All Old SERO'ers will be grandfathered in, HOWEVER when you upgrade to a SEP phone, such as the Instinct, you will be forced to change your plan or pick a non-SEP phone.

*******************************************

1. Why Sprint?
They might not be the best cellphone service provider, but they are definitely the best for your buck. They will throw anything at you to steal you away from the competition or to keep you with sprint. They always want to keep the customer happy and will glad give out compensation, perks, and even loyalty discounts to any customer (YMMV).

2. What is the SERO plan?
SERO is Sprint Employee Referral Offer. It is a highly discounted plan with no promotional or advertising backing. Only knowledgeable employees and customers know about it. There are NO Family plans under SERO. Here are the current plans and when you sign up it will be a 2 Year Contract.

-Sprint Employee Referral Offer 500 mins for $30 per month
-Sprint Employee Referral Offer 1250 mins for $49.99 per month
-Sprint Employee Referral Offer Unlimited for $99.99 per month

3. What does SERO plan include?
SERO plans including the following:
-Free Activation on Phone
-Free Unlimited Vision or PowerVision (Internet & Data Plan for all phones except Blackberries, yes FREE)
-Unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes Starting At 7PM
-Unlimited Mobile To Mobile Calling
-Free Roaming
-Nationwide Long Distance
-Voice Mail
-Caller ID
-Call Waiting
-Numeric Paging
-Three-Way Calling
-Call Forwarding ($0.20/min)
-Sprint PCS Directory Assistance ($1.40 per call, plus airtime)
- Only $5 every additional 30 minutes.
- **UPDATE** Now includes FREE UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGES EXTENDED!! (Promotion now expires 07/13/08)

4. How to I sign up?
There are several ways you can sign up for a SERO plan. Easiest one is go to http://sprint.com/sero. You will need a Sprint Employee’s e-mail address to gain access to the site. An e-mail like this one savings@sprintemi.com.

You can also call directly to Sprint and ask to sign up for a SERO plan. It seems people that call retentions get a better deal or can ask for other perks (stated below). Of course you can always ask for perks once you got the plan.

Sprint Customer Service 1-800-974-2221 or 1-800-639-6111 always ask for retentions or say cancel, or call Retentions directly! Here is the number 1-866-235-1185 or 877-775-4886

5. I want to know about Perks!
These perks can be received by all Sprint customers, including SERO. Here are just a few perks that people have been able to add or reduce in price on their plans. Remember perks results may vary and no one is guaranteed anything.

Everyone
-Free 500 txt messages a month
-Free unlimited txt messages a month
-$5, $10 Unlimited PowerVision
-Free PowerVision
-Nights & Weekends starting at 6 pm
- Add 100 free anytime minutes
-Corporate Discounts (See #7)
- 5%, 10%, 15% loyalty credit
- FIMF (First Incoming Minute Free)

New Customers & Existing Customers extending contracts
-Free Activation & Shipping
-Phones at highly discounted prices
-$25,$50,$75 Service Credits
-Sprints credits previous provider’s Early Termination Fee
**UPDATE**$115 Service Credit for sigining another 2 year agreement.

Use these coupon codes SAVE50, POWERUP, 50YDC and CLICK FOR URANG CODE OFFER to get $50 service credit to your account. It will work for new and existing customers. Just call or email to get it added to your account.

6. So how do I get the perks?
Please remember there are many variables that go into this. Some brownies points that seem to help are if you are with Sprint for a longer period of time, if you always pay your bill on time, total amount of your bill, which Customer Rep you get that day, and of course when your contract expires. If its expired, money! Just tell them you are thinking to cancel and they will throw the kitchen sink at you. Two ways to add perks to your account:

Call*2 and say cancel or ask for retentions

You may also e-mail Sprint ecare. Sprint ecare is just Sprint Customer Service through email. To e-mail ecare sign up to your account on the Sprint web site. Click on Contact us. Then click on ‘email link,’ or you may e-mail them directly at one of these addresses:
ecare1@cc.sprintpcs.com
ecare2@cc.sprintpcs.com
ecare3@cc.sprintpcs.com

In an e-mail to ecare make sure to include
-Name on the Account
-Phone Number you are e-mailing about
-Account Number

Remember to always be polite and very, very patient. If the first Customer Rep doesn’t give the perk to you say Thank you, hang up and try again. Then maybe try the emailing ecare. Just never give up, be extremely polite and patient.

7. What about getting a corporate discount?
There are tons of corporate discounts Sprint gets out. What is great about this once you get the discount they never verify it every again. You can check if your company has a discount here. Check Corporate Discount Eligibility Here!

NOTE:I decided to take the list of companies off, it was getting too long. Use the link above to see if your company receives a discount.

8. How do I port my number?
To port your number from another provider, first DO NOT cancel your account with the previous cell phone provider. On your new phone dial *2 or dial the retentions number listed above. Then ask for “Porting Support.” You can also call The Porting Department at 877-688-1969. The Customer Representative will port the number immediately. Once you have successful ported your number to your new Sprint phone, you may go ahead and cancel your account with your previous provider.

9.How do I track my order?
You can call this phone number 1-866-289-8375 and with the order number given to you, you can ask for a tracking number that you can track through UPS web site.

Or forget about calling Sprint and waiting forever to get a tracking number! Go to this web site Sprint Order Tracking Site
Then type in your 7 digit order code in the Shipping Reference box. It will give you your tracking number and information on your order.

10. What about Rebates for my new purchased phone?
Sprint always has rebates for your phone. These rebates are mainly for the dumb people that pay Sprint’s standard for phone. But it doesn’t matter how much you spend for your phone you can still get them. Let just say I paid $49.99 for my Motorola Q and got $175 in rebates. You do the math.

**Current Sprint Rebate**
Packing slip or Sales Receipt dated from 6/12/08 to 07/12/08
Activated phone and postmarked no later than 07/26/08

**Past Rebates**
April to June Rebate
Packing slip or Sales Receipt dated from 4/20/08 to 06/14/08
Activated phone and postmarked no later than 06/28/08

Remember to always read the instructions and make copies of your rebate papers before sending.

11. How to track my rebates?
Go to Sprint Rebates Site to track your rebates. You can search by your phone number or either click on track your rebates on the left side if you have a tracking ID. You can call 1-800-477-4127 (Sprint Rebate Center) to get your tracking number or check on your rebates.

Not sure if you can help, but here is my situation. I want a Moto Q, but I'm in month 6 of a 24 month contract. I've been a long time Spring customer close to 10 years, but due to some problems they had to recreate my account and now my account looks like it is only 6 months old. My current plan is:

$49.99 1000 day time, 8 PM, unlimited txt message.

any advice for getting a good deal on the Q and not having to pay too much more?

Yes, Call Retentions. Tell them that you have been with Sprint for 10 years and recently sign a new contract. You now have (insert your phone here) and you having many problems with it and you want a Moto Q. Tell them that you can get the Moto Q at Verizon for $79.99. See what they come up with to offer you then start negotiating from there. Good luck!

I work part time at A&M. They have me down as a state of texas employee and it was approved. I get 15% off each month.

o3 - maybe, but he has listed for state of Texas as 15% off, and I'm getting 23% off. That's why I'm thinking that they are separate.

rustybbq99 and o3 thanks for the info. I added it to the list. State of Texas and tu has a 15% discount so I would imagine Texas A&M is the same.

I added the DIRECT Retentions line so there is no waiting and directly to the people that can make the deals.

Enjoy.

I am a current Sprint customer (contract ends next week) and I was thinking of switching my account to a SERO plan. I called today, though, and was told I'd have to get a new phone #. This doesn't make much sense to me since I thought now you can keep your number even if you change providers. This guy was adamant that this was true, though.

Any advice?

Thanks.

bam02...
Technically SERO are for new customers and current customers that will have their contract expired are treated like new customers and will be given a new number. HOWEVER many people have gotten there number port simply by being persistent with Customer Service.

First use the direct retention line posted above. Explain that your contract is up in a week and would like to go to verizon for their better network (or another BS reason), however you would like to learn more about the SERO plan.
Let her talk..blah blah... then kindly ask if will be able to keep your number. If she says no, then remind her this is the only thing that is hindering you for signing with Sprint again. (That should work)

The rententions number you gave out (1-866-657-7576) goes straight to a fax line. Is there a different rententions number?

Bam02, did you still go with Sprint? What did you end up with if you did?

I am having a hell of a time working the Sero angle, so I am looking at comparable deals.

Aggie34-

I wound up sticking with my original "fair and flexible" plan. I do actually kind of like it because my minutes used can fluctuate a lot. They no longer offer this plan but I was able to continue it. It seemed like I was going to have to get new #'s for my wife and myself (I did this before Devastor's reply at 8:48). I was able to get into the SERO website and had it pretty much ready to go, but changed my mind. It is a pretty awesome deal, though. Why are you having trouble w/ SERO?

I got two of the Katana phones for $30 each and no shipping or activation charges. They also gave me 500 text messages per each line and moved my night and weekend minutes to 7pm instead of 9pm. They also gave me $150 in credits toward my bill. Nothing too great, but I was happy enough.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Dev,

What is the best course of action in obtaining the free 500 texts when signing up on the SERO (should I email them about it or call the number on the SERO site)? Do I ask about it when I am on the phone when ordering the plan and phone? or wait a few days/ weeks? I am trying to sign up(again), cause the first time I tried, the port failed (thanks verizon) and I have to try it again.

Also, when i sign up, what rebate will i be able to use? can i use the ones you post above in addition to the ones i am gonna use when i first sign up? can i use the kellog? any others so i can make money? i am cancelling my verizon contract and need to make up for the 175 i am out for that.

You are signing for the Sero plan right? Since you are a Verizon customer I would call and totally see what ELSE they can offer you. Again tell them you are with Verzion and heard good things about Sprint and something called a SERO plan (it is good to play dumb sometimes) and could be interested in switching. See what they offer you. It is good to have which type of phone you would want (probably get discounts on the phone as well). After they tell you her offer then start negotiating. I would first negotiate for Sprint to pay for Verizon's EFT (yes they have done this in the past!!) Tell them the EFT is the ONLY thing stopping you for switching right now!
Then if you got that, you could ask for the 500 txt messages. Tell them you notice this plan doesn't include txt messages and Verizon's plan does.

If you can get all of that in one phone call, WOW! If you don't get the free txt messages you can do ecare later, it is probably one of the easiest perks to get.

All the Rebates above can be used for your phone, no matter how much you pay for the phone. You can use Kelloggs $75 rebate if the phone is retailed over $299, not what you paid for it but retail value.

I can then give you a referral number to call to referral a customer (like me!) and you can get an extra $25. I will also give $25. But one step at a time. Hope this helps.

Devastor, first of all, thanks a ton for answering everyone's questions!!

I am getting a little impatient trying to get Sero (No one's fault, I am just not patient enough to call 10 times). So I was wondering about going a different way--

My wife left Sprint about 2 years ago and is with Verizon right now. So I have two questions-
1) Can I sign up under her name, since she is with another carrier?
2) If so, once I sign up, then can I port my Sprint PCS number to that account, thus giving me the Sero plan and my current phone number to that phone (Just under her name on the account?)

Is that possible?
AgFB
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Thanks!!!!

I got totally hooked up when I told them I wanted to see how much my termination on my contract would cost. I told them Cingular offered to pay it, and give me a free smart phone.

She took all the extra stuff i pay for (text, vision, extra minutes, etc.) and gave it all to me for free.

Then when I asked her about the phone, she offered me a discount on the Blackberry 7130e to 199.99. But when I told her that Cingular was going to give me one, she offered it to me for 99.99 with a 100 dollar rebate.

She even threw in one for my wife for the same deal!

How far will these people go to keep your business? Wish all companies were this flexible!

Next year---I'll try to get them to pay my bill for me.

The fact that you can get the Moto Q with unlimited data for a $100 initial phone investment and $30/month service plan is outrageous. Hope the deal is still there in December when my Cingular plan expires.
devastor
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AgFB! You hit it right on the nail! You just gotta show them over companies offers or even hint that you are gonna cancel and they bend over backwards to keep you. Of course AgFB also got an awesome representative, So patient and a small amount of luck is part of it.

Make sure to use all three rebates. You will at least get $175 back for your $99 phone. I love it! AgFB do you need a Sprint Referral Number to get an extra $25 back?

You do need to be patient. How many times have you called did you call directly to Retentions?

What you mention should work, but try calling again and even e-mailing ecare first. Keep us posted.

Here is a question, my wife and I will both need new phones and the SERO plan.

Can I buy the 1250 plan for $50 and add a line to share those minutes, or do I have to buy two individual 500 minute plans for $30 apiece?

Sorry you cannot have a family plan with SERO. But think about it, two plans of 500 mins give you 1000 mins for $60. Still not bad especially since you get free roaming and free internet!!

My company has a 10% discount with Sprint. How is the best way to get this discount?

Do I order the phones online, receive them, then call customer care and have them enter the discount, or should I call to order the phones and have them apply the discount at time of order?

You can do either way. Now what I have been hearing within the last few weeks Sprint has been dinning some SERO customers the company discount because the plan is already highly discounted. This doesn’t mean you won’t get it but just be aware.
Like some people already mentioned in this thread, if you call and get the right Rep you are in the money. Try calling, if you don’t get it then once you receive the phone you can email/call again.

I placed an order for the Moto Q (for me) and the wife wanted the pink katana so we're good to go.

I'll call in for some perks at a later time. I feel it's a very fair deal.

Devastor, we may want to share info so we can both get the $25 referrals

OK, I got through Call #1 without any problems. I was very nice and courteous to both reps I talked to.

One offered me a $100 credit and 100 extra minutes. I respectfully said that was not what I was looking for.

Got transferred to someone else and told her I was looking to get an smartphone, specifically the Moto Q. She offered me the online price for $99 and the vision pack for $20. Told her that would not work. When I asked about SERO, she said that was for new customers only.

I figure I will keep called until I can get the SERO. I don't use all of my minutes as it is and will jump at the chance to get a Motorola Q and the unlimited Vision for $40/month.

Or I will get them to throw Vision in for free on top of my current plan. That would be better. And then I will use the rebates.
