The finger pointing between dems and reps is comical. Neither side gives a **** about the national debt when their team is in charge. The OBBB just undid a bunch of **** the Inflation Reduction Act put in place. And in 4 years when the pendulum swings the other way the dems are going to undo a bunch of **** the OBBB put in place. All thats guaranteed is that the debt keeps climbing.

Some say the debt doesnt matter. Lots of countries operate with significantly higher debt to GDP ratios than the US. What I dont understand is how every country can be in debt. I guess they all just owe money to each other? Others say the govt will collapse eventually due to the debt, but the time frame is always 10-20 years from now.

The OBBB is going to put money in my pocket with the higher SALT cap and it will help my industry (O&G) with the rolled back "clean" energy incentives. I guess I got what I voted for.

Tax cuts are counted as spending. Even worse, because they were made "permanent" it uses I think 10 years or maybe longer.

It's why TCJA of 2017 had the cuts expiring and phasing out as the CBO scores you better that way.

Eta, I used to believe this site was better as far as objectivity, but there is so much bull**** posted here because of partisanship, it's no better than any other forum.

When you tell people to cite their work vs educating yourself, that also does not make the site better.

First off, you are the last poster that should be talking about educating anyone. Look in the mirror.

Second, HE told me to cite my work. Yet, you didn't respond to him, you respond to me. Why? Because you are good with the false claim and wallowing in ignorance because you support Trump.

Actually I educate quite a bit on this board. And you are the one who is incorrect and making a false claim.

Tax cuts are counted as spending when scoring a bills impact. Period.

We don't need sources cited to say the sky is blue. You are saying it's green with pink polka dots and so it's appropriate to ask what the hell are you looking at.

Reduced tax revenue via tax cuts is considered spending when a bill is scored.

That why they say tax cuts "cost" x trillion over 10 years. It's money the government doesn't get any more so it's a cost to the government coffers.

It's backwards logic. But that's how it is.

Good gosh.

"No, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) does not score tax cuts as spending.

Here's how the CBO treats tax cuts:

Tax cuts are scored as reductions in federal revenue, not as increases in spending.

The CBO separates "outlays" (spending) and "revenues" (tax collections) in its budget projections and analyses."

Which does what to deficit projections?
Logos Stick

It is revenue minus spending. Tax cuts are not spending, never have been., never will be. These cuts expire as far as the CBO score. They were counted by CBO as not existing for purposes of this bill!

They simply take the tax rates - the old rates - and estimate GDP and do.the calculation to determine projected revenue.

Irrelevant. They are not counted as spending!

The CBO scored this bill using the pre Trump tax rates. That's it. They were not counted as spending.

Tax cuts being equated to increased spending is utterly nonsensical. If the CBO defines it that way in any scenarios, that's a purely political driven definition with no basis in reality.

It's exactly what the CBO does and why they are considered politically driven (amongst other reasons).

Now the framework is in place, stand by for a big beautiful continuing resolution in September.

Republicans have been promising regular order for years (if they were in charge), and they haven't don't it yet.

Why is it only falling on the shoulders of Republicans? Shouldn't Democrats be expected to help?

Rs have a solid campaign point now that the BBB is passed and the Dems held in lock step against it.

Now this is where you can start slaying them on single issue bills if Johnson and Thune can stay in sync.

Dems are so shell shocked these days getting them to continue to self inflict should be a high priority.
Dirty_Mike&the_boys
How long do you want to ignore this user?
This never ending debate regarding the CBO's understanding and application of dynamic scoring is so nonsensical because can anyone please point to the source evidence for the time the CBO got it right? In 2017 they said Trump was running us off an economic cliff and it took a man made fake flu epidemic to take down the economy that was on fire up to that point.

I'm pretty pumped less taxes I'll have to pay. Less losers on Medicaid and SNAP. Planned Parenthood takes a kick in the nuts. Border Wall and more deportations.

I wish we could have a balanced budget and actually stop adding Trillions to our debt but thats not Trumps fault. The reality is that the citizens of this country continue to demand that we give them everything they want and refuse to compromise and elect idiots that also feel the same way.

Not one democrat voted yes on this bill so what would it take for them to vote yes? It wouldn't be a compromise it would be the demand to get everything they want and nothing else. Thats why we keep passing bills on party lines on both sides depending who is in power at that time.

I don't see it changing until it crashes and then it forces change.

The deportations will help reduce the drag on our welfare programs.
