I am a fiscal conservative. I personally have no debt, but for USA I want debt to be reined in to manageable levels.

Stop foreign aid. I haven't read the BBB yet but I hear it increased the debt by 4T.

The moratorium seems to be intended to keep states from mucking up the implementation of Sec 43201 of the BBB to modernize federal IT systems / repositories using AI and the $500,000,000.

There are a list of exclusions to the moratorium. Why the pearl clutching on this?

It proposes to increase the debt ceiling by $4T. Now, it will increase the debt as that is just where we are. Depending on models we may or may not need the $4T but I think most of that figure is needed REGARDLESS of what bill is passed or if no bill is passed.

The BBB is 1,100 pages. Only the AI models that wrote it know whats in it. Kidding aside, these bills are a hard read and most spend their time on keyword searches for gotchyas with no consideration of the context or intent of a certain section.

Not the way I prefer our legislating to be done. I am a big fan of single issue bills but like massive reductions in spending it seems wanting such is a fool's errand.

Senate for consideration. Likely some compromise. Likely lesser amount on debt ceiling.

Hawley will cancel out any attempts to go further on entitlement "cuts".

Lindsey Graham will likely hold out for more Ukraine funding.

Pretty disappointing that this is the 'tax reform' that is being pushed. Basically, the same old progressive tax system that punishes the productive income class in this nation. Sure, some of the deduction limits have increased but, overall, this is same old crap. This is the only time taxation will be addressed, just like last time. Once this is passed, it will be considered a victory for the right and move on. No major overhaul of the tax system will be looked at until the next party takes over, which just be another boondoggle in a different light. Now we have tariffs to add to the mix. Great, another tax.

Doesn't matter. CUT.

And CUT items that are 15% and 25% also. I don't know what they are and if they can even be cut but just because one is rich it doesn't mean one throws money away. Even now, I use coupons at Great Clips for my haircuts just like I did in my lolpoor days at College Station.

It just builds discipline and responsibility. Yes, I save a few bucks, big deal but my mind is always tuned to be frugal and not waste.

Back in December there was a huge firestorm about the spending bill where Elon and Vivek read it blasted Twitter for what's in it. Nobody did the same this time except Elon I guess

He's a US citizen so probably not getting deported.

Will Trump attack him? Likely. I think Elons commentary is is misleading and not helpful. But he is free to say it.
