i'm with you orbit...ok, but not enough to fill an hour...they also had a lot of hype to live up to, but sadly didn't...

Maybe not the best episode of all time, but plenty of laugh out loud moments.

Jan going after Pam and telling her to stay away from Michael was hilarious.

Andy's chafing/bloody nipples...absolute greatness.

Creed naming all those pain killers or talking about cults.....

I've been a part of many cults, as both a leader and a follower. It's a lot more fun when you're a follower, but you make a lot more money as a leader.

Creed was great tonight

This show needs to be an hour! With all the garbage on television nowadays, I'm glad to be able to enjoy the greatness of this show for 30 minutes longer than normal. The storylines for this season are going to be so hilarious.

Creed's line about cults is one of his top 5 ever.

Kevin's realization of PB&J was almost as good.

It's the first episode don't worry the story lines you want to see will happen. Ryan's is in the next few episodes.

but i'm glad they are keeping the jim/pam relationship under the rug (don't ruin it for me if it becomes public later in the episode) i was worried that they were just going to jump into them having a relationship and a lot of chemistry from the first two seasons would have been missing. i think they flirty/secret thing they still have going keeps that element.

I think they went exactly the right direction with the Pam/Jim storyline. Showing them just having fun and downplaying the significance of that relationship was much smarter than turning this into a Ross/Rachel type thing.

The PB&J prank team was one of the first things that sucked me into this show in S1, and it will be good to see that come back instead of drama. People that want to see relationship drama are watching Grey's Anatomy at 8 instead of The Office anyway.

Yes, they made the Jim/Pam thing one of many story lines instead of the main focal point, which was good. This way they (hopefully) won't feel like they have to do the break up/make up cycle to create more material. Just let them live happily ever after.

Also, even though it was obviously a big filler piece, I thought Michael naming off different types of false gods was hilarious.

Solid effort, but still not sold on the hour episodes.

I liked it when earl and the office were both 45 mins. long enough to get more stuff in, but not long enough to have to use filler.

Enjoyed it thoroughly... Jeopardy line was my favorite.

Anyone else see a distinct line of demarcation between two "seperate" 30 minute shows?? To me, these could have been two different 30 minute shows that we're woven together after the fact very subtly. The one show would have been hitting the alky with the car and everything that transpired with that... the second show was a general office fun-run. They wove the two together using the rabies theme...

Anyone else feel this way? Or do you think this was shot as a 1-hour show originally?

Yeah I noticed that also.

I think we've seen the best this show will be the last couple years.
1. They have hooked Pam and Jim up
2. They have made Pam sexy (with the curly hair)
3. They have given a personality to the blonde (forgot her name)
4. Creed was given more lines, vs just talking in the interview portions
5. Ryan is lost

To me, it just seemed like they are going away from what got them there. I didn't like the show at all.

It was always supposed to be a one hour episode, but they made it to where it can easily be split into two 30 minute eps for syndication purposes.

I read yesterday that Jerry Seinfeld made $60 million this year, mostly from Seinfeld reruns, so clearly that is where all the money is.

yes, there was a very obvious transition point at the half hour mark. Wife and I were watching it later on DVR and I thought it was over already at the middle b/c it was winding down like it always does (with Michael talking to the camera one more time). Totally done for re-runs. Instead of 1 hour long storyline, it was 2, albeit closely related, half-hour story lines.

And I thought it was great.

....but I was kinda surprised they dispensed with Karen so quickly. I figured she'd have a bigger role, at least early on. I wonder if she will reappear at all?

I remember someone saying that Karen was on the pilot for another show... possibly why they had to dump her so fast... unavailablilty

I like when Michael was talking to Ryan about hitting Meredith, and Ryan asked if he did it on purpose, and Michael said, no, I was being negligent.

Rashida Jones is in a new show from the Farelly Brother called "Unhitched". It is supposed to air on FOX later this season...and it is supposed to be really bad. I think we could see Jones back on The Office before year-end.
