I agree that most of the fights in Reloaded are so-so/don't really move the plot forward. But I also agree that the entire highway sequence, including the Morpheus fight atop the semi, is just flat out incredible, and one of the best action sequences of all time. That, and I know the Architect gets ragged on - hilariously so, by Will Ferrell - but it's such a brilliant twist, IMO, and unconventional ending, that I can't help but respect if not love it. Overall, I'd say the first half of Reloaded is pretty average, but the second half, starting with the Merovingian intro, is some of the best action/sci-fi I've ever seen.

Then I sat down for Resurrections, and I was so glad for my rewatch. Having a refresher on the themes, characters, etc. really enhanced what I think is *easily* the 2nd best movie in the franchise.

Finally seeing it tonight.
Half the reviews say it's the best movie of the year. The other half say it's too meta, too cheesy, and just plain bad.

I'm glad I watched on Max. Fell asleep and stopped the movie with 10 minutes left.

When they say meta, they mean it's self referential. Like, it doesn't pretend it's not a movie, if that makes sense.

Same here. Very meta, but I thought it worked. Right now, I'd rank it second among the 4, but I haven't watched 2 or 3 in more than a decade. I'm sure nostalgia played a strong role. Good news is, I didn't hate it.Drahknor03 said:

Just back from the theater. Liked 90% of the movie. Some of the end, especially the last 5-10 min could have been done so much better.

I think this tweet sums up my feelings on the film. Some neat and interesting parts that could've been explored more but overall the Neo/Trinity story felt lame and a lot of the movie was sloppily executed.

That was an awful movie. I know it was made just to make money...but my God was that the dumbest thing I have seen in a while. Glad I watched on MAX. If Keno Reves hadn't been in it, I would compare it to a straight to VHS movie in terms of everything else. And I'm a big fan of the original trilogy.

basically the second movie was just a really great action movie with some character dev.
the third movie was supposed to be super deep/whatever, but really just turns out that neo and the oracle and all are just checks and balances in the matrix, but since neo chooses to let the world burn for his chick, instead of saving zion and thus the matrix, they have to work out a compromise to keep everything together, because all the meat-sickles would croak and the bots run out of juice;
so neo and trinity play jesus and the bots let the smelly carbon units survive.

From the reviews I've read, you should just quit your job.
I'll be watching this one on HBO. Too many mixed reviews to pay for it.
It pains me to say it's not worth seeing it in theatres. Doesn't even look all that great.
Saw it in the theater this afternoon, and understand the criticisms, but I'm not nearly as negative on it as some here are.
It's big, dumb, and fun but maybe tries to be a bit too smart about it. That worked in the first film that was big, (at face value) dumb, and fun but also really damn smart but doesn't quite carry here.

Worst of the 4. Nonsensical plot and exposition and the action was really really bad, what little of it there was. Reminds me of how I felt after seeing Reloaded. Those trailers were incredible but the movie itself was such a far cry from the first one. Reloaded at least had some decent action.
We'd be so much better off if they just stopped after the original. I know too much profit potential was there for that to happen, but damn they are all lackluster to ass.
