Unless, of course, this movie is going to go all out with the de-aging technology, but also take it a step further and have digital "stunt" doubles for Reeves/Moss as well - something I wouldn't put past the franchise that changed visual effects forever. In that case, all bets are off.

Rewatched the original last night. Could you imagine taking the red pill thinking it was going to be some kind of crazy new drug this guy in a leather coat is offering you, only to wake up and being forced to enlist in the greatest fight for survival humanity has ever known?

You got to think at least 10% of the people who broke out were just junkies chasing for a high.

I will say, while the Wachowskis have obviously made some super weird and somewhat terrible movies, their material is never gimmicky and they ALWAYS have something to say. Which is why this feels like less of a cash grab to me than it could. All indications were that the Wachowskis were retiring after Sense8 and they seemed content with the fact that no one was ever going to pay them to make a giant blockbuster again (their words). Warner Bros., on the other hand, no doubt wants the money, and wants to capitalize on one of their most valuable assets. But Lana wouldn't have come back if she didn't have something to say or didn't see a legit reason to continue to the franchise. The Wachowskis are some of the smartest (and richest) filmmakers alive, and I'm sure Lana & co found a way in that's not going to feel superfluous, and I can't imagine her doing this just for the money. It's just not her/their style.

Redpills are careful in who they identify as candidates to be offered the red pill. They aren't like Mormons going door to door.

If all 3 reboots are successful, by 2023 I'm full expecting a Maverick/Matrix/Terminator crossover film.

The sequels.......................pretty much suck. The second one had that highway chase and Monica Bellucci in a corset, so it was okay. I think I saw the last one in the theater and that's my only viewing. It was terrible.

Talk of a "young Morpheus" makes me nervous, but the scenario quoted below could actually be pretty cool if done properly. Basically, they could go Godfather 2 with it and have part of the movie be flashbacks to young Morpheus for whatever reason, while the main storyline is progressing in the present day...

I wonder if they will film this in Australia as well. I was living in Sydney when they were filming 2 and 3. I had an apartment downtown. It was about 10 seconds of walking from the telephone booth at the end of 1 where Neo flew out of (really didn't exist), and where the lady in red was. They closed down the whole street I lived on one weekend to film the big fight scene at the end of 3. Exciting times.
