Me and my buddy saw one 15 years ago through a scope about 200 yards away in Premont, TX. It was sitting with a long tail and a weird looking face.
We didn't know what it was. It was too big to be a house cat, definitely not a bob cat, wrong colors to be an ocelot, too small to be a cougar, and definitely not a coyote.
We made the decision not to blast it for fear of shooting something endangered that we hadn't heard of.
I'll stick by with what me and my homie saw.
