The angle with Irene was brutal. Also, I thought they used Kim's comment at the end about how she was surprised it happened so fast to indicate that it probably was a **** offer. When Jimmy saw Irene's offer letter, that pained look was all about his 20% - as was the math he immediately did in his head outside. He didn't give a damn about the olds. They're roughly getting tbeir money back, which was enough for Jimmy to switch to focusing 100% on Jimmy.

So Jimmy knows that the other women won't talk to Irene about why they are mad (i.e., that Jimmy is badmouthing her), knows that no one will clap, including people outside of the circle he has been dealing with. That Irene will break down, and that he will be able to comfort her?
And Howard blindly thinks Chuck will just walk away and give up?

Jut felt way more contrived than most episodes to me. But they did do a great job of foreshadowing the accident with the first scene, the Nacho scene with his dad was good, the hector Gus scene, mike Lydia scenes were all really well done. And for that matter, so was the last scene between Kim and Jimmy, gave a perfect juxtaposition on where they are and where they were going.

Serious, non a-hole reply...they gave too many hints prior to her accident. She asked for more coffee. Jimmy said she stayed up all night, etc. She was sretched too far, and she fell asleep at the wheel. After going through Architecture school, I feel asleep at the wheel a couple of times. It is terrifying to snap to and not know the last 15 seconds.

My condolences for the loss of your friend. I had a brain tumor removed in '07, I still think about it every day. It is not a good way to go.

Solid episode. Lydia and Mike interaction, Jimmy going Saul mode, Howard dealing with both McGill brothers, and Gus and Don Hector.

Saw the Easter eggs with Crazy 8 at the mall and the liquor. Saw the crash happening to Kim at the end with the signs. The whole time I felt bad for Irene because Jimmy was setting her up to have these go against her for his benefit.

Not to derail, but how did you find out you had a brain tumor, what were the symptoms?

Jimmy knew Irene would start feeling isolated, even if it didn't hit her suddenly after the bingo. The group reaction is somewhat believable because... old people.

I'll have to rewatch it I was pretty certain her eyes were wide open. I think the lack of sleep was a misdirection perhaps. And especially if she was taking nodoze. But certainly it's possible. I could be wrong of course. It's just weird to me that I thought of it right before it happened.

With her eyes open and her fingers moving slightly right before the accident?

No head nodding, no eyes drooping, I just rewatched it. She was fully awake. Unless it was some artistic license where they showed only what she last remembered.

I'm sure they will talk about her falling asleep next week. But I'll remain skeptical. I'm sticking with my theory until proven otherwise. I expect her to have some other epeisode and then go for more tests.

Morning after and I still absolutely despise that episode.

I Think she just zoned out and was obviously at a curve in the road. Her and Jimmys end probably comes because she is killing herself to get and keep clients just to make an honest living while Jimmy is conning elderly folks so he can collect over a million.

Another kind of Easter egg: The Night Of The Hunter playing in the background while Jimmy is talking to one of the old ladies. Robert Mitchum movie from the 50's and if you don't know it, go read up on it. It fit perfectly for what Jimmy was doing.

The jump cut was used to represent exactly that. One second she was on the road, then Boom, she was woken by the impact and airbag.

It is obvious to me she fell asleep. It could be this is a diversion from another issue, but we have seen some things in the past that were obvious stay obvious on other things that were obvious later turn out to be seriously complex. That is why some people try so hard to show how smart they are in these discussions (including me). Right now I am just enjoying the show.

Saul suggested as a possibility that Walt send Jessie to Belize. Not too surprising he is manipulating some old ladies to get a quicker settlement. It's not like he's sending any of them to Belize. Last episode where he was so adamant about his dad being a soft touch being his downfall makes none of this surprising.

Now fixing a bingo game, that is reprehensible.

Brain tumor is quite a leap. I think she just fell asleep. Jimmy mentioned she was up all night again.

I don't see what other choice Howard had in dealing with Chuck.

Davis & Main are trading time for money. Irene doesn't have much time. Jimmy is trying to convince her to take the money before she runs out of time. Yes, he will benefit, but that money won't do Irene any good when she is dead.

Plus, Jimmy is pretty presumptuous that she will settle. It could be something happens to delay it.

Sorry, just not buying that motivation given he basically destroyed her to get her to make the decision. Her well being seems to be of no concern, so why would he care about her ability to enjoy the $$$ before she croaks? To him, I think that reasoning was a tool to help motivate them toward a decision, and that's about it.

He went right to the math on his $1.1 million and did what it took to get it.

really? i've done it and for me it usually very noticeably involves head bobs and eyes drooping, etc. And a couple of times fading and snapping alert and trying to stay awake.

But ok. I'm perfectly willing to admit it could be nothing more than falling asleep. Just seems like thats possibly misdirection (what they want you to think) and it just didn't look like that. She froze staring straight ahead (no head bob or eyes drooping not even yawning).

This is Kim immediately before impact. Now maybe they just intentionally did not show us the head bobs and drooping, etc. for dramatic effect.

Agree - something could torpedo it. Kim doing something to "rectify" it could move two plot lines along - Jimmy would become more, or irreparably, estranged from Kim as a result and due to not getting his million bucks be forced to work with criminal elements more. If he gets a million would he need to get into the drug game more heavily?

Re; Kim - writers definitely 100% tried to show us how exhaustion is the cause of the wreck, could be a diversion but I doubt it. Yes, we do feel we need to "get rid of" Kim during BCS as we don't see her in Breaking Bad, but hopefully cancer isn't the way. I sense burnout and moving back home, getting out of the law game, just getting too disgusted with Jimmy and separating all connections, etc as more likely than death or cancer. I am thinking more and more that they will do multiple episodes if not a full season in Omaha, and if so maybe there is a random Kim meeting and reconciliation - before snapping out of it and remembering these writers don't give people who make bad choices happy endings.

Jimmy's plot line makes sense to me - they are moving him along to where the character needs to go. Same for Kim and the Kim/Jimmy relationship. But Chuck - that still surprises me. He's been in a coma, bashed his head, been publicly embarrassed, but the character just keeps coming back and getting into new messes that are frustrating to watch. Interesting character, well acted, but hard to watch. The actions with Howard last night make me think they could do a whole season before BB and it could be heavy Chuck/Howard - and that scares me.

They've spent all season building up how overworked Kim is, along with several hints in this episode.

This is shaping up to be this week's version of support group husband desert body.

Only takeaway I have is this:

Did Jimmy honestly think he needed that large of a size range of mall-trainer shoes for Irene?!

It was shot as basically a Kim POV for effect, because as mentioned, that is how falling asleep at the wheel and getting in an accident tends to be. My wife's uncle was killed nearly 20 years ago when he fell asleep at the wheel. He was a chemical engineer for Oxy and running one of their plants in Thailand (so he and the family were living there), but he'd come back to HQ in Dallas every couple of months. On the first day of one of those trips back to Dallas, he was driving from the office (grabbed a bite to eat along the way) to the hotel at the end of the day, fell asleep, and hit a concrete pillar full speed. No brake marks or anything. Killed instantly.

It was a jump-cut; not sure why this is so hard to understand. She fell asleep.

I've been distracted enough mentally while being wide awake behind the wheel to nearly have that happen to me. Thank God it didn't.

The manipulation of Irene and the rest of the Sandpiper residents was tough to watch, partly because of the realization that there really are people out there who are cruel and crafty enough to pull something like that off.

This. They very obviously showed the bottle of no-doze at least twice in her car. Comments about her pulling an all-nighter. Asking for more coffee. And that is only this episode. Come on, people.

You are trying way too hard. The editing made it seem instantaneous. There is enough filler in these episodes, I don't think they need two minutes of head-bobbing to get their point across this time around.

It isn't shaping up to be anything. Quit getting your panties in a wad.

I've readily admitted multiple times it could be simply falling asleep and that they obviously want you to think that.

Just a guess/theory. Nothing more. There is nothing to disprove that either though. So we'll see. It isn't and doesn't need to be a huge debate.

If I'm wrong I'm wrong. No big deal.

I just also think it could explain why we never seen Kim in BB. She may be getting treatment, not working because of it, etc. and maybe even Saul visits her sometimes but we never saw it on BB.

Let's move along and I personally don't feel the need to comment on it any more. It's a theory that's all.

Honestly for me there was more momentous stuff in this episode.

Mike "working" for Madrigal was awesome. And her reply about what Gus was.

Nacho watching Hector have an episode and the whole dramatic standoff there was great.

Personally I get why people don't like what Jimmy did, but I really enjoyed it from a purely watching perspective - it was Jimmy/Saul at his best conniving and scheming. Plus the mall stuff was just fantastic. Loved the shoes and the track suit - lol.

Chuck getting slammed by Hamlin was awesome and his attempts to show his condition are not affecting him. I still don't think this ends well for him. Looked to me like Hamlin was pretty stone faced in the previews and probably had some plan of his own to end Chuck at the firm.
