While I still think some of the storylines are meandering, all it took was that first scene and I was 100% back in with a smile on my face.
The detail, the almost perfect way they can frame a scene or shot is amazing. Even just the simple detail of having his present be in black and white tells so much. And the way they let a scene like the final one with Mike play out over a long roll to let viewers slowly catch up to what he is doing are just awesome. Even when I was thinking it's so slow I looked up i and I was 48 minutes in and it felt like 10. Nothing else like it on TV..

Yeah he is and since those scenes were completely dialogue free I had to rewatch to figure out a few things. But some interesting things about it and a question I have.......

Here is what I got:

- he figures out that whoever left the "DON'T" on his car might be tracking him
- he disassembles the car looking for it and finds it in a replacement gas cap
- he then takes it with him and puts in his other car (this is interesting, see note a. later)
- he disassembles it to get the part numbers, etc. off it
- after work one night he leaves it in the garage so they think he is there all night (another interesting side note b.)
- he meets the Vet guy in the middle of the night and pays him to get another device and the signal tracking unit
- he then replaces the one in the car with his tracking device in the gas cap because....
- he has figured out that when the battery goes low they probably just swap it for another device - they can remove and replace the gas cap in seconds rather than disassemble it and replace the battery.
- he uses his radio wired to it to run their battery low so they will detect that, and then throws it away
- he waits until they come to replace the tracking unit whereby the unwittingly take his tracking unit and so he now follows them

side notes
a. so he has to assume they are not tracking him visually or it would not be in that car. assuming of course they know what car they put it in. Thats a huge leap of faith to assume they won't notice it is a different car.
b. again he is presuming they are not visually tailing him, they are just interested in where he goes or maybe if he goes near certain people or locations. So nobody is staking him out apparently.

Problem though:

So did they put a new tracking device in his car and therefore know he is coming? He is tracking them but then they could see him coming???? I mean we did not see him remove the new cap they put there - assuming they did. I mean I cannot imagine they just took it out and are coming back another day to put it back but maybe so?????

Pretty smart yes....but left me with a few questions.

Maybe he wants them to know he knows and figured it out - kinda proving himself?

I must have missed that.....damn.

Still quite an assumption that they would not notice a different car?

That's called the lack of good original dramas on TV. We were all aching for this because TV dramas have been in the doldrums for so long.

BCS tonight, leftovers Sunday, GoT soon...im sure I have forgotten a few... Getting better

Chuck very slyly making Ernesto change the batteries and having PLAY already pushed so he hears the incriminating evidence was pretty good too.

Pretty sure there were 2 trackers. One on each of his cars. He only replaced the one on his "normal" car, not the wagon. The only thing he's counting on is that he's good enough to pick up on a visual tracking, which he's decided that they aren't.
Burdizzo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I thought there were two trackers too. Once Mike figured out where the one in the wagon was hiding, he checked the Diplomat and found one there too.

The question I have is, if his tail saw that he tore the wagon apart looking for the device wouldn't they get suspicious that he was onto them?
DannyDuberstein

Possibly. But that was just a "mission" car they'd expect him to dump. And he took it apart behind walls at a place where cars get ripped apart. The cab being told to honk at the gate was a not-so-subtle hint that he just had some measure of privacy. Good cover.

Worst case, even if they think he looked for it, it was very well concealed and his response afterward doesn't tip it. Soo good reason to think he didnT find anything.

I don't think the Gus henchman is paying attention to the car. He's just there to make a quick switch and get in and out ASAP

So now it has the potential to be admissible or Chuck just wants other avenues to use it against Jimmy since someone else heard it?

Can someone remind me the current situation with Kim/Jimmy/Mesa Verde?

Kim has secured Mesa Verde, right? What exactly is that contract she was working on all episode?

I'm probably missing something, but I don't see the benefit of playing it for Ernesto. Didn't he already know he had altered the documents? I recall him covering for Jimmy being at the copy store.

Well he gave a subtle and wry little smile after the Ernesto encounter. Seemed intentional to me.

I mean he could have taken the tape out for convenience and precaution but did not. Also it would have had to have PLAY pressed already - once the batteries go in it starts playing. I don't see any way (even lying upside down) that putting the batteries in causes one of the buttons to be pressed.

Also the tape was not at the end, when he had previously played it all the way through for Howard. It was set at the point where you can clearly hear Jimmy talk about the change of the address.

Seemed very planned to me.

Mess Verde wants to open a new branch location. They hired HHM to get them through all the regulatory issues. Jimmy fouled up Chuck's files to make HHM look bad so that the work would go back to Kim.

Ernesto is impressionable. It helps Chuck get back over on Ernesto. And while the tape may not be admissible in court, now Ernesto has the guilt of Chuck knowing he knows on top.

Should anything go forward legally, there's now someone to verify Jimmy's crime.

She's doing all of the regulatory filings for opening a new branch. She had an inside track to get them as a client, then the big dog HHM stepped in and won them over. Jimmy sneaks in and transposes the address on all of his brothers' paperwork to screw up their regulatory filing, which delays the branch approval (and therefore opening). So they fire HHM and hire Kim.
Burdizzo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yep. That would not have been in the show if it isn't important later. Not sure where, though.

I agree. I should have specified we thought it was his plan to get Kim against him, but we were mistaken.

I think he hopes Ernesto tells Saul about the tape. Ernesto already vouched for Saul last season by saying he called Saul when Chuck hurt his head at the copy center. That way Chuck can blackmail Saul into leaving the legal field or the city.

I really enjoyed last night's episode. I think the writers have finally gotten the message all that Chuck stuff was annoying. There was not near as much of it in last night's episode. Also, it looks like they are going to play up the Mike story more which is good for the show.

I am wondering why the foreshadowed Saul collapsing.

I was thinking last night that somehow Ernesto - either son or nephew of Gus - has made Gus aware of Jimmy. Gus somehow then discovers the relationship between Mike and Jimmy. Gus then thinks that Jimmy and Mike could be useful to him. Jimmy's a lawyer not opposed to doing things on the shady side. Ditto for Mike.

No clue, but maybe in order to test his fake identity once admitted to the hospital?
