Another freaking great layer to a great show. Saul has to be walking on eggshells as Gene all these years being careful to stay in the shadows. Now, he ALMOST doesn't rate out the little shoplifter because it is one more level of potential attention from law enforcement (they specifically zoomed in on the badge) with the passing out leading up to a potential ER visit.

I also loved the scene with Kim struggling between what punctuation to use in that one sentence on that Mesa Verde document. Period? Semi-colon? Dashes?

She is now very cautious as to what a simple typographical error can do to a person's career. I just thought that that scene was so well done.

That's why threads like this are important to me. I couldn't figure out just what the hell he was doing there.

Also, has anyone speculated on a connection between Ernesto and Gus?

was speculated heavily on the thread last year.
I was thinking last night that somehow Ernesto - either son or nephew of Gus - has made Gus aware of Jimmy. Gus somehow then discovers the relationship between Mike and Jimmy. Gus then thinks that Jimmy and Mike could be useful to him. Jimmy's a lawyer not opposed to doing things on the shady side. Ditto for Mike.

Not to mention Gus and Hector have history.

Gus - Hector - Nacho - Mike - Jimmy.

This has potential to get very complex.

Kim knows what Jimmy did wrt to that filing, right? I guess I need to go back and watch season 2.

If so, I think her back and forth reflects her moral struggle with how she garnered the client. I'm wondering if she ever files the document. Maybe her professional ethics get the best of her, further driving Jimmy to the "dark side."

She knows. But she refuses to talk about it b/c if she never says it... she can deny it to herself.. .but the struggle is real

There's been a lot of speculation, I think possibly backed up by a hint or two from Gilligan (though I could be wrong), that the show will eventually switch entirely to Saul's present day situation. Or that part of the story will at least become more and more prominent. It definitely feels like it's leading to something of substance, especially after he fainted. That said, we may not see that timeline again until this season's finale. That's how they did it last season, right?

Yeah, Kim is going to crack. This was an early sign.

Am I correct that so far we have only had two scenes at Cinnabon since BCS started?

3 I thought. One at the beginning of each season.

Yeah. As I recall, the first one, the one where he locks himself out in the garbage area, and this one.

Can someone remind me who Mike was going to shoot out in the desert?

Hector. I haven't watched Season 2 since it ended, but I believe it's because he shot the good samaritan who reported the truck driver who was tied up by Mike after crossing the border?

Aside: A year and a half is way too long between seasons. Had to wikipedia the details.
Burdizzo

Ah, I had forgotten about him getting locked out.

That may have had something to do with it. Mike was more upset with the mute brothers stalking him and his grand daughter because he was initially unwilling to cooperate to lessen the gun charges on Tuco

Ah, OK, thanks. I did happen to catch one the marathon replay in which the death of the good Samaritan is mentioned.

Agree. Think I need to go back and re-watch season 2

This was my recap source yesterday evening

very broad strokes for a show of this depth, but it got the job done

I loved using Nancy Sinatra's Sugar Town for the opening scene.

This is why I wait for a while (years) to start watching a show. I started Game of Thrones after season 5 was over. Watched Breaking Bad after the series ended. I waited until recently to start Better Call Saul because I hate the long, long waits between seasons.

For those wondering about the tracker discovery and swap, this is a good breakdown.

I could probably watch Mike eat pistachios for hours, but the Chuck tinfoil BS has gotta end.

I'm really hoping for someone to confront Chuck and tell him - "dude, you're f'in crazy"

Jimmy wont. he's still too emotionally attached. I doubt that is ever permanently severed, even if Chuck takes the tape to the state bar to try and get him disbarred. Jimmy's statement to kim - for 10 minutes he didnt hate me, i forgot what that felt like - was pretty telling.

Hamlin wont. he and the others still see the chuck that used to be, the brilliant lawyer who could lawyer circles around everyone else.

bunch of damn enablers.

mike continues to reinforce why he was my favorite character from BB, with vacuum cleaner repair guy being right there with him. dont F with mike.

If anyone watched the post show, another BB character comes back in episode 2.

The way the segment played out they made it sound like someone else besides him. But we will see.

I bet it's Victor. It just makes sense to bring in a henchman before bringing in Fring.

The teaser for next episode shows Los Pollos Hermanos and Fring talking to a customer.

If he's not in episode 2 then they straight up lie.

They said that here are scenes from the upcoming season of Better Call Saul, not here are scenes from next weeks episode. Shows typically do this after the season premiere.

I really enjoyed last night's episode. I think the writers have finally gotten the message all that Chuck stuff was annoying. There was not near as much of it in last night's episode. Also, it looks like they are going to play up the Mike story more which is good for the show.

I am wondering why the foreshadowed Saul collapsing.

I love the Chuck story line. Some of the most tense and best acted scenes of the series.

I'm still thrown off by the tracker issue. In BB they placed the tracker on a car. Then they retrieved it later and plugged it into a computer to see where the guy had been. Hank did it to gus. Walt did it to Jessie.

Now in Saul they have real time tracking abilities? Why not do that in BB too?

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.

Also completely agree with the above posters about re-watching s2. Wish I had done that as well.
