Just watched it. Very upsetting. Agree with those who said this was worse than the Red Wedding. Didn't really care for Robb or his mom. His wife was hot, but that was it. Definitely shocking. But Oberyn turned into one of my favorite characters after less than a full season. Not like this, man. Not like this...

Unreal.


I just watched the last 10 minutes again, starting with her saying "You're going to fight that?". And my heart was racing again, and it's still racing afterwards. AND I FREAKING KNEW WHAT WAS COMING!

The choreography on that one scene is some of the best I've ever seen in a TV/movie fight.

Dang me....for seeing it again.

He was soooooo badass jumping around, all the while calling the Mountain out....and he freaking WON. And then, they pull the carpet out, and it almost looked like it literally!

Bolton stuff is a snoozer.

Thought that Grey Worm and Mel might scissor for a couple min there.

What happens to the old dude? I feel like he will still be loyal to Dany.

Arya was def laughing at the Hound IMO. She doesn't give a **** about her aunt.

Why was he smashing the beetles?? I'm assuming it was just a nihilistic story about life.

About this, I didn't think about it until now but if the Mountain dies from poison, not his wounds, will that exonerate Tyrion? Or will they write it off to Oberyn was in on the murder of Joffrey with Tyrion's help?

Will it come into play at all?

Are we sure it was poison being wiped onto the spear? Someone earlier said Dorne was known for poisons. I don't remember that but could be a detail I'm forgetting.

Even if the Mountain dies eventually, he killed Oberyn and was alive when Oberyn died. The Mountain wins the trial by combat.

I understand that. But, if he dies from the same poison as Joffrey, could it be rationalized that Oberyn killed him and Tyrion is let go? Or would he be considered a conspirator because Oberyn was his Champion?

Again, just looking for a way out for Tyrion.

I wonder what this will mean for Princess Myrcella who is still in Dorne?

I can imagine that the Dornish (?) cant be too happy with losing another member of the family to the Lannisters.

Theres no way that Petyr could have predicted this out come either.

I like where your head's at, but no. Trial by combat verdicts seem pretty final. If you kill your opponent and are alive at the end of the combat, you win the trial by combat, even if you later succumb to wounds taken in the trial.

Oh yeah! Forgot about the daughter.

Oberyn was pretty emphatic though that the Dornish didn't harm children/little girls. That was one of his big angles at showing how they were better than the "trash" at Kings Landing. And it's not like he was ambushed. He voluntarily fought in a solo battle to the death, killed his opponent, but lost in the process.

Maybe they won't see it that way, but that's the claim the Lannisters could make if they were so inclined.

My guess is that Jamie talks Tommen into sparing Tyrions life and banishment to the wall or across the sea to fend for himself.

Tyrion teaming up with Calesi and her dragons? Could be interesting.
