Can you explain?

Dorne appears to be culturally and ethnically different than the rest of the regions. In the current wars, they seem to be non-participants. So even if they have multiple heirs they don't matter. They are passive and allow things to happen to them. But really, we know nothing about them.

This is all a Littlefinger story. We just never knew...

I don't know about Harrenhal's costs, but it is a ruined castle that has claim over a bunch of recently destroyed lands. It's not worth much at the moment, even if it is technically a former seat of power.

Dorne sat on the sidelines because they saw it as a war between the north, the Lannisters and baratheons. If it wasn't for loras pumping renly, the tyrells wouldn't have jumped into the war (or at least not that early).

There is plenty of history about why Dorne doesn't typically jump to help the Lannisters or the tyrells. The show has touched on their hatred of the Lannisters, perhaps the show will explain their historic allies and enemies

I think he was referring to Renly, who would have been Stannis' heir since Stannis has no sons

Isn't Harrenhall supposed to be much larger than any other castle in Westeros? That is my only guess as to why it would be expensive to maintain.

Yes, Harrenhall is frickin massive
The Debt

But what does that have to do with upkeep? Most of it is uninhabited ruins that will never be repaired, so why is there this notion that LF must spend one silver stag on it. It didn't even really come back into the crowns possession until 6 episodes ago.

If anything, LF comes out ahead. He now has all the lands and titles of Harrenhall, he has slaves err prisoners for labor, and he has serfs to tax...and dispose of.

Any thoughts about the Lannisters being out of gold?

I think this entire show is two nerds in college playing a dungeons and dragons-type game. The two nerds are Little Finger and Lord Varys

Best scene this week had to be the reuniting of Jon Snow and his wolf (Ghost?).

Shouldn't Bran's wolf be around too? Seems like he would either be with Ghost or following Bran.

She's with bran. He told hordor, hordor to free her.

It's LF fault. When Robert spent, he borrowed from them. And the iron bank. I'm sure he purposely encouraged Robert to blow money on trivial things.

I don't think Robert needed help on spending money

No but it seems no one advised him against it or told him he was in debt. And the lannisters happily followed him into debt, assuming they'd find a solution for themselves.

Thanks. It's a girl's name and I hadn't noticed any gender references.

In the very first scene where Ned meets with the small council as Hand of the King, they tell him that Jon Arryn counselled Robert against various stupid things (e.g. uncontrolled spending), but in the end Robert did them anyway.

It's value to Littlefinger, at least at this point, is all about title. He is now considered "high born" and worthy of marrying the upper classes such as Lyssa.

Hey remind me again why Bran's quest north to see the three eyed raven is so damn important?

He has chronic 3-eyed raven dreams and is noticing that some of those visions are coming to pass or have merit. Plus, they promise him the ability to "fly" or at least a way out of his crippled body. He knows that they are connected to his warg abilities in some way. He's seeking the 3-eyed raven for some of the same reasons Luke sought out Yoda lol. In other words, to understand and develop his skills and to find some meaning in everything that's happening to him. Jojen and Meera have been there to flame his desire to learn more.

I think, on some level, he sees safety at the end of this pursuit. He knows he can't even go to the Wall for safety because word of his existence would get out and there are still compromised men with varied allegiances in the Night's Watch.

What is the fate of the direwolf pups that were found in Episode 1 and given to the Stark kids?

Robb - Grey Wind - Killed at the Red Wedding
Jon Snow - Ghost - Recently reunited with Jon, had been captive at Caster's Keep
Sansa - Lady - Killed to make Cersei happy
Arya - Nymeria - Sent away to keep from being killed to make Cersei happy
Bran - Summer - With Bran
Rickon - Shaggy Dog - With Rickon

Is that right?

I really hope that Nymeria comes back at some pivotal moment and does something really cool. Much like Arya wandering in the wilderness and becoming (hopefully) a badass, I hope that Nymeria has been out learning wolf ninja skills and it leaps out of nowhere in Book 7 and takes down Melisandra just as she's about to kill Arya or some such like that.

Chip why are you talking about book 7 in the non book thread? Accident?

Jesus, it was a proxy for saying, "AT THE END OF THE EVENTS IN THE FANTASY WORLD OF WESTEROS AS DEFINED BY GEORGE R R MARTIN'S OWN PERSONAL TIMELINE AND AS INTERPRETED BY A COUPLE OF GUYS THAT WORK FOR HBO, I HOPE THAT ARYA'S DOG EATS SOMEONE."

I haven't read the books (other than the first half of the first one) and I'm not planning on reading them.

Chip, I think you're on to something and I think there's very much a relationship between the destiny and personality of the wolves and their owners. I've always thought that Sansa no longer having a wolf could be an analogy to who she is and could become.

I was thinking it would be cool if she is sleeping on the ground with the Hound and then she stops him from killing her wolf and she is reunited with him.
