The look grandma gives Tyrian makes me think she somehow had a hand in the killing. And her quote to Sansa about killing people at a wedding. Seems like too much to me.

Has no one mentioned when the cup fell under the table and Sansa reached down to grab it and give it back to Tyrion?

definitely noticed that and how she held her hand over the cup for a little extra before giving it back. but even if she was in on it no one would have known she'd have a chance at it and she was already trying to leave before it all went down. she also looked surprised when dontos showed up to escort her out.

Why does Joffs mom hate the butchy knight so much? I was confused. (I'm horrible with character names)

easttexas,

Joffs mom (Cersei Lannister) hates the butchy knight (Brienne of Tarth) because Brienne spent a ton of time with Jamie Lannister. Cersei hadn't seen Jamie in over a year because Robb Stark captured him, and Brienne spent months one-on-one with Jamie getting him back t Kings Landing. Brienne has the feels for Jamie and Cersei is jealous.

If you were watching your tormentor(who also killed your father/mother/brother) choke to death wouldn't you stick around a few extra seconds to revel?

Also Cersei would no longer be Queen after the marriage so that's why she was being a b**** to the new couple, the old man, and to Brienne. She was lashing out at her own loss of power.

For those who don't know.....

Cushing Library is GRRM's official repository, meaning that he sends anything and everything of his he wants to store to Texas A&M, and we keep it at Cushing.

Cushing recently closed a Game of Thrones exhibit, which included items ranging from original manuscripts, to weapon replicas, to full detailed maps of the Westeros, Essos, and beyond, etc. etc. etc.

Can't wait to watch this episode again! Hoping to pick up on other clues.

it cant be Sansa. Wife and I watch that scene a few times over just to make sure. Sansa hands teh cup to Tyrion who then hands it to Joffrey. Before he eats the pie, he takes a quick drink from the cup and then hands it to Margaery who then sets it down on the table. The poison must have been added after she sets the cup down. I just dont know who could have done it aside from Margaery. She was the closest to the cup. Everyone else was seated away from them.

Or maybe it wasn't the wine at all? Other have mentioned the pie. Seems risky due to potential collateral damage, but maybe they knew Joffrey would be the first and only one to partake.

FYI - Buzzfeed has screencaps and a partial explanation of how the assassination went down. One small fact that they probably got from the books, but other than that, everything is show-based.

Won't the show spell it out in later episodes?

I dont think it was the pie because he seemed to be eating it with no trouble. It was only until he began to drink the wine that he got sick. I also think it had to be in his glass only because everyone else was drinking the same wine.

I think his goblet was spiked

Probably, but it's there if you want to look. It's not "spoilers" in the sense that they say "this is what happens in the books." It just screen caps a couple things as evidence for who was behind it.

He made the comment about the pie being dry and needing a drink. Just seemed like maybe the first stage of reaction was taking place after eating the pie. Hard to swallow because his throat was tightening maybe?

Very curious to look, but will attempt to abstain.

Damn... I can't decide if I want to look at that Buzzfeed article or not.

What about the cup itself being laced before wine ever poured in it? It was given by Tyrell family as gift to Joff that morning. Again, have to wonder what the end game is to that family. Possibly to throw chaos into King's Landing for them to make a move for the crown.

Cersei's hatred toward Brienne has many possible motivations. Jealousy is obvious, but could also be that she learned that Jaime was maimed after protecting Brienne, and blames her for his deformity. Remember, the Bolton captors were going to have their way with Brienne, Jaime intervened, and then they shifted their attention to him and cut off his hand.

Finally, Brienne has been a loyal champion for 2 different threats to her family's seat on the crown (Renly and Mama Stark).

Personally, I'd wait for the show to shed light on the death. It depends on if you enjoy knowing more than you enjoy debating/guessing.

Wait for the show, the buzzfeed article is essentially spoilers from the book because book readers knew what to look for. Which was explained to them after the fact in the books.

So yes you can see how he got poisoned, but it's so subtle it's essentially just a nod to the book readers. You can find out if you dissect the wedding reception scene... which is about 20 minutes.

It seems like they made it a point to show the dead birds in the pie. At first I thought he was choking on a bone from a bird, until he started turning weird colors.

I'm guessing it was the grandma, but what do I know. Her dialogue before the wedding sure seemed fishy.

Someone stated earlier that Joffery may have killed some of the birds when he chopped into the pie.

I still think the only way you for sure poison him is to poison the pie.

I look for that prince to play a pretty big role soon. I think he brings Pappa Lannister down and the rest of his flunkies will go with him.
