cainer, I was wondering about that myself. If they are in fact planning on doing all the books, those dreams are pretty freakin' important.

Not much was mentioned about it and it's completely overlooked in the non-reader thread.

honestly, on my first read i was like 'wtf' after that chapter and i kinda disregarded it. i think the most important thing for them to do was slip that scene in there now so then they can easily refer back to it, cause let's face it - not much happens with bran's "powers" until well into season 2 when the Reeds arrive

one dream i hope they put in in some way is the Tower of Joy flashback that Ned has. it has some of the best dialogue in the entire series and it really helps set up R+L=J which (if true) is one of the building blocks of the entire series

There seems to be large number of people that needed to watch this show to catch that Renly and Loras are gay

I read the books. I didn't know they were gay. WTF.

It was implied and hinted at throughout the books. Never as overt though

It was definitely implied in the books. Renly's vanity, not consummating his marriage, the Rainbow Guard, the Lady of Thorn's comments to Sansa, Loras not remembering giving the rose to Sansa, etc. I honestly never knew it was a question. I was, however, shocked at the interpretation on film. Wow. And how about that poor boy child actor having to suck on a prosthetic teet? Kid is probably scarred for life!

hey i just finished the chapter where ned confronts cersei about banging jamie and having all those kids with him. the thing i dont understand, or maybe i just overlooked it or something, but how did ned figure it out? i can't seem to remember him finding anything to imply that was happening...

seriously? the whole plotline with discovering the b a s t a r d s with black hair, "the seed is strong"? All Robert's kids look like him. Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen look nothing like him, but they do look a lot like their mother and her brother.

He never has proof, he just puts the pieces together and snaps to the proper conclusion when Sansa tells him that Joffrey is nothing like Robert

Back to the knife. The knife is actually important, and I like that the writers have left in several scenes that confirm Tyrion's innocence, if the viewer is paying attention.

I'm usually ****faced on Sunday nights and don't pay attention, what scenes prove Tyrion Lannister's innocence?
JJxvi
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I dont think we have anything to "confirm his innocence" but I assume he means the yet to be refuted Littlefinger claim about how he lost it in a bet.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Tyrion has said that he never bets against his family, particularly Jaime.
JJxvi
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't think he's said that. He told Jamie "You know how much I love my family" at breakfast. I dont think he's has a chance to say he never bets against his family yet, unless i missed it.

no offense but those of you who didn't pick up on renly/loras in the books are a tad slow

(though in y'alls defense, it took me til my second read-through )

The title of next weeks show: The Golden Crown.

'nuff said!

They seem to be setting Theon up for his actions later in the series. I remember his true intentions coming as a surprise to me because of how he backed Robb after Ned's death, but other than a single line in the second or third episode, I simply haven't gotten the same vibe from him. Of course, it may just be that now that I know what's in his future, my view of him is a bit tainted.

sooo pumped for the 'crowning'! looks like they're also showing dany eat the horse heart, in the 'next week' clip there's a shot of her face/chin covered in blood

seeing as this is the book thread, tyrion says that exactly, he never bets against his family espeically jaime
JJxvi
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I know it happens in the book, I already mentioned that I thought that's what he meant even though we haven't seen him say it yet.

They obviously have not "left in" that scene if we havent seen it yet (though I bet they get to it)

Spoilers don't bother me, I haven't read the books, but I want to be as informed watching the show as possible, so, what were the details discussed with the two hooded guys that Arya overheard in the dragon's skull?

I could be mistaken but having just recently re-read the books and watched the episode I'm about 99% positive that one of them is Illyrio Mopatis (the guy who was hosting Dany and Viserys at the before she gets married).

They're plotting to bring the Tagaryens back to the throne. In order to help them out they want to start a war that bleeds all the High Houses dry so they can come in, sweep up, and take over.

But they also don't want the realm to go to chaos either.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
one was Illyrio for sure, but I couldn't tell who the other was...somebody on the regular thread mentioned Varys? I'm almost done with the 2nd book so i guess i'll just keep reading to find out

I read quickly and can sometime miss small details. But I usually figure it out a few pages later and go back to find what I missed. With these books sometimes I go back and realize that I didn't miss anything. I just finished the fourth book and there is an event right at the end that gave me this feeling. I had the same feeling about Ned figuring out the kids weren't Roberts.

Second, nobody in these books knows anything about what the other characters know.

Count me in as one who never realized the Loras/Renly bit. Going to reread and see if I catch it.

I thought he made it pretty obvious that Loras was queerer than a three-dollar bill.

Technically she only knows what Jon doesn't know. Which is apparently everything.

some of you lack it

how could the rainbow cloaks alone not immediately raise a red flag? It's so tongue-in-cheek I almost wonder if they'll even do it in the show... it might come across as wildly out of place
