Rivalry wins are even sweeter when they come against a red-hot Texas team, but that's exactly what the Fightin' Texas Aggies earned on Saturday in Austin as Bucky McMillan's upstart squad left the Moody Center with a 74-70 victory and a 4-1 record in conference play.

Rivalry road kill. It doesn’t get much better than that.

The Lone Star Showdown trophy is returning to its rightful home in College Station. The Aggies took round one of this rivalry in dramatic fashion, 74-70, to improve to 4-1 and now need just six wins to put themselves in a great position to make the NCAA Tournament. This was another culture-building win.

With that said, here are my thoughts on Saturday’s win:

1. Rylan Griffen. Second-half game changer.
