That horse head chopping scene was the most random, and awesome moment in just about any TV show I can ever remember. LMAO so awesome.

The scene between Robert and Cersei was epic. It wasn't in the book, but it should have been...

By far the best show on TV in years.

The Renly/Loras scene took me by surprise, too. It makes sense, though, and was strongly implied in the books like someone else said.

The horse chopping isn't *completely* random. Remember that Loras rode a mare in heat to get Gregor's horse hot and bothered so that Loras had a better shot at winning. The immediate target of Gregor's anger at losing was his randy, uncontrolled stallion, and then Loras.

Gotcha, didn't realize any of that. I think I must have been half asleep during the joust setup but then promptly woke back up with the neck chop!

They have set up pretty much every character on the show besides the Stark family as backstabbing conspirators plotting against their respective leaders, even the Starks red headed ho lovin ward.

I feel like it it's all going to boil over at one time like the Anchorman battle royale.

I love.....throne.

Do you really love the throne or are you just saying it because you are looking at it?

I love THRONE! I love throne. Hodor!!!

That's one of the few things about the books that bothers me... no medieval knight would be caught dead riding a female horse. Of course it's Martin's world and not ours, but his portrayal of medieval knighthood is VERY historically accurate in just about every other way

Well, except for that prancing ninny, the Knight of Flowers...

Sir Prancelot seemed pretty comfortable with a mare. You could tell that was going to be a gay storyline the first time those two guys locked eyes. I don't know why but it makes me think of the Monty Python Lancelot 'rescue' scene ha.

'He's come to rescue me, fathah!'

Well now, not so fast. I thought he was a woman.

Felt bad for Neds bodyguard. They didn't really look at the doth raki or at the Wall this episode. Probably why besides the fighting it dragged for me. Those are two of my favorite storylines.

A lot of the characters in this show are pretty stupid. Ned's wife goes through all this secrecy to not be seen in Kings Landing to get her husband a message then kidnaps Tyrian without informing Bed and basically leaving him to fend for himself without knowing what is going on.

If she had her way, Tyrion wouldn't have seen her at the inn, and she would have made it out of there with no drama at all. After he saw her, she figured she had no other play, and there was no opportunity to let Ned know what was going on.

And did anyone else think it pretty bizarre that everyone was all for going to kill Danaeras and her baby to prevent war? Seems that would be the one thing that would light a fire under the Doth Raki's asses to get across the Narrow Sea for some revenge. Why poke the sleeping giant? Lots of idiot in the Kings company or a lot of people wanting him to fail and put the crown up for grabs.

The king hates every descendant of the dragon and doesn't struggle to find reasons for killing any of them, and he's a natural fighter first and diplomat a distant second. As for his council, they basically just tell him whatever he wants to hear. In his presence, they take on the roles of spineless idiots, despite the fact that he doesn't want or need that.

... and they do it because Ned's the only one who can stand up to the king without the king reflexively blowing up at them. Except even he just pushed it too far; Robert's utter hatred for the Targaryens is too deep to compromise on.

It's also debatable whether the Dothraki would cross the sea if Viserys and Dany were to die.

So is Neds sister in law supposed to be some kind of oracle or just a crazy biatch who lost her husband and can't get her kid off the tit?

She def took the most of the BSC dept between the two sisters. Kat seemed like she immediately regretted visiting after she saw her sister and what she had become. You could def tell Tyrian felt the situation was beyond his control for the first time in the series and looked genuinely afraid at having his fate decided by a crazy widow and her suckling ninny.

Lisa Arryn (Cat's sister) went BSC after Jon Arryn died and coddles the kid like a baby despite the fact that he is like 5-6 years old
PastrySquirrel
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Looks like he's older than 5-6 in the show, but yeah, same thing's going on

True, but the reason why probably qualifies as "book info", even though it's not a spoiler.

Well they've already explained that the Doth Raki are afraid to cross any water that their horses can't drink so that would b one thing stopping them.

Thought that was pretty funny that Viscerys marries his sister off to get himself an army to retake his throne across the sea but ally's himself to a people who doesnt sail.

Ok so the Targaryens were banished and obviously not liked at all by the King... Is their dad the "Mad King"?

Here's what I dont understand, and I guess this may be getting into spoiler territory so if it is I apologize and will wait for the story to play out. If the King hates them so much, why did he banish them and not just kill them in the first place? I understand diplomacy but he seems just fine with killing them now. Why even allow them to partner with the Darthraki? He could've at least imprisoned them. Thoughts?

LHIOB, thanks and now I am aware of what you were saying about that particular episode. That is an awesome episode by the way.

Who is the father of BSC Lisa Arryn son? King Robert or the former King's Hand?

And there is no way that was a real titt he was sucking on.

and who was King R talking about with jamie? His first wife who is the sister of Ned Stark?
Gramercy Riffs
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And yes, their father was The Mad King.
PastrySquirrel
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Btron - Lysa Arryn is the widow of Jon Arryn, the elderly Hand who was succeeded by Eddard Stark.

2nd point you're right on the money, except they were only engaged and not married

The father of Lysa's son is the deceased former Hand, Jon Arryn.

Ned's deceased sister, Lyanna, was never Robert's wife.

Since I'm in the question asking mood.

I know the King hates the Targaryens, with his whole being. But what is so important with Daenerys having a Targaryens and Dothraki baby. Would it just formerly unit those two "families" and be a larger than normal army?
aCosmicBandito
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'd assume because it would allow a dragon witha sizeable army to attempt to reclaim the throne.

I think everyone besides Viscerys realizes that he isn't leading anybody anywhere. Danaeres' child would have the rule of the Doth Raki and could command them into battle to retake the 7 kingdoms. Robert just wants to pull a Team America and instigate preemptive violence to stop possible warfare in the future.
Gramercy Riffs
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's the easy answer, yes.

So for the people who watch episode 7 right after 6 on hbo go. We have to wait 2 weeks before episode 8 right? Stupid question I know but one can dream.

Glad to see so many of you enjoying the series. It's exceptionally well-done. It's fun to read the comments and questions from those who haven't read the books.

Regarding the mystery of the knife, let me just give this observation: a significant clue about the knife has already been given in the past couple of episodes. It's very subtle, but worth rewatching the episodes if you want to.

the scene where Arya hides in the dragon skull in the dungeon and overhears the converation seems pretty important to the lannister/stark attemtped assassination feud storyline

awesome, awesome episode, best so far

i'm a reader of the books and i loved dany and jon's parts, but i do think it was a good decision on the writers' parts to cut them out of this episode. chronologically, neither of their storylines have anything of interest that coincides with the events from this past episode

loved the added scene of robert/cersei, one of the better dialogues so far in the series imo

also, renly/loras were pretty obviously gay in the books, so i'm not sure why their scene came as such a surprise to some of you. i liked that scene, it finally brought in Stannis (renly and robert's brother for those of you who didn't pick that up). also started some important set-up between loras and renly

they captured Lysa's BSC perfectly, though i cringe a bit at the actor playing sweetrobin...he'll never hear the end of his actions in this role. even with a prosthetic boob, that's just a disturbing thing for a child actor to do

I'm glad the show explained who those two people were a little better in the dragon skull chamber. I had an idea that it was the varys and someone else but I had no idea who. I'm not sure why varys is plotting with people from across the sea, but I guess we shall see sometime.

I know one of the dudes was Illyrio from Pentos who had been watching the Targaeryans, didn't realize the other dude was Varys

Ahh... interesting, I definitely did not catch that he was the same guy from like the first episode that was playing him. Wonder what the terd varys is up to.
