How long do you want to ignore this user?
NOTE: I haven't read the book, just watching the show.

Will the friendship between Tyrion and Jon Snow (if you can call it that) play a roll in his arrest? What I mean is (and this is all spectulation and if you know from the book please don't spoil) did Tyrion really give the knife to the assassin, or did his brother get it from him? If it was his brother this will cause a major moral dilemma for the imp, stay in jail as an attempted murderer, or rat on your family.

i'm honestly not sure how to answer that without spoilers, haha

Never assume *anyone* is telling the truth.

Except Ned Stark.

Probably.

I was hoping that they would end it with the capture of Tyrion. And if I've got the pacing correct in my head (and they continue to stay relatively true to the book), the endings to the next two episodes will be even better.

I dunno if this is a spoiler prep, but I'm through a book and a half and have no idea where that dagger came from yet. I mean I would assume jaime or cersei because Bran saw them doing the dirty, but nothing has confirmed it.

That didn't sound like a spoiler and I'm sure it's difficult to discuss the topic w/out a spoiler or 5, but it just seems to "nice and neat" that someone says the dagger game from Tyrion and now he's captured. Plus in episode 2 (again I haven't read the books so I go on episodes) the queen and her blover (brother and lover) were discussing the assassination he admitted to setting it up (I'll kill everyone until it's just you and me.) so at best Tyrion had the dagger stolen or simply handed it over and at worst he's a conspirator.

Also, I get mixed up w/ names, but the new Dothracky Queen (the blonde chic), does anyone else get the impression she's about to get real power hungry? The way she was discussing going of the narrow sea to get the crown seemed telling...

this is a safe assumption to make based on what the episodes have shown us. but, keep in mind that she was talking to Jorah about his banishment, and she said a bit accusingly, "you sold slaves"

prepy there's a thread for people to ask questions based on stuff in the book where we try not to ruin what's about to come, but can answer questions on stuff they go more in depth with in the books. You should ask that there.

And I'm loving Tyrion right now. Peter Dinklage is NAILING this character. Sansa isn't at all how I pictured her but Arya is spot on.

Sansa seems about right to me. Arya doesn't physically resemble my mental image of her, but the actress is doing a great job.

tv - the answer to the true source of the dagger isn't made until Book 3, although obviously several character's fates are tied to it (justly or unjustly).

Lots of good characters in this show but I think Tyrian and Arya have definitely been the best so far. Great work by both actors. Hopefully they'll both be around for a while.

Can't wait for next week. This show has been really good so far.

Who is the guy that helps the Darthraki (sp) queen? The one who said something about his wife is now somewhere with another man? Was he banished as well? What's his relationship to the brother and sister who were kicked out of the village of the damned?

Only giving what the show has revealed (no spoilers), he is Ser Jorah Mormont of House Mormont (of Bear Island). He was exiled for his engagement in slave trade after being bankrupted by his wife who was a gold digger.

He has no relation to Viserys or Danerys Targaryan.

I'm not sure the show has explicitly said this, but it is no spoiler or secret info either way: House Mormont is pledged to House Stark. Ser Jeor Mormont is Lord Commander of the Night's Watch (as has been seen in the show), and Jorah his son is banished, leaving one of Jorah's sisters as Lady of Bear Island.

I've decided to just not comment on this thread/answer any of my friends questions about this show. I already know, at least from the books so far, the answers/spoilers, and I fear I would accidentally give something away.

Good summary bame, I think the show more or less said it in different words.

Prep, dany is a strange character because she does have that power hungry characteristic and sense of entitlement, but she is also very compassionate. I like her, I just feel like she could definitely have two very different sides to her, one harsh and unyielding to her enemies, and one caring for her own people.

Thanks for the summary... so the lord at the wall (the guy that was talking about eating the fatty) is the father of the guy that was busted for selling slaves? Getting so lost here.
PastrySquirrel

The Lord of the Wall - Lord Mormont - mostly stays up in his study. We saw him an episode or two ago.

The guy in charge of training new recruits at the wall is the Master at Arms, Ser Alliser. He's the grumpy guy who doesn't like Sam and is always yelling at Jon & Co.

OK gotcha, thanks.

nudist, if it makes you feel any better, most of us were just as lost as you are when we first read the books (or at least i was). this show is going to be exponentially better when it comes out on DVD, i think, so you can rewatch everything and truly get to know the world and the characters

love the books, but im losing interest in the show... im looking for the next few weeks to recapture me. dont get me wrong, i dont know how they could be doing it any better - its a complicated weave of a story. but there's so much going on, they cant cover everything as thoroughly as id like - ex: the joust was very meh; the Catelyn/Tyrion encounter was underplayed; etc. but the cinematography also seems to be giving way to a lesser quality product than id been hoping for. its looking very "set-ty", vs. the earlier episodes looking significantly more on-location and "epicy". anyone else think so?

i've read a lot of reviews saying that of the first six episodes, #5 is pretty much unanimously the best by leaps and bounds. just from the previews we can see that there is gonna be a ton of **** going down

i might give it one more episode to truly judge. well not me personally, i was sold after the pilot...but for anyone else

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm loving just for the simple fact that it provides quite the escape on Sunday nights after what has been exhausting weekends as of late between coaching son's baseball team and going to daughter's dance recitals, etc.

No complaints, just wish each show was longer.

SPOILER CENTRAL

Tyrian Lannister uses his large brain and wang to mind**** his way out of captivity. He then takes his dagger back to be returned to the dragons volcano where it was forged to be destroyed to rid the evidence of his family's dirty secrets.

Ned Stark becomes obsessed with recovering the dagger for his kingdom and it eventually causes him to go crazy.

Arya grows up, takes a female lover, and changes her name to Xena. Shrieking wildly while descroting any man who gets in her way.

The Mongrorians overrun da chitty wall helping Snow finally get some strange when he retreats south.

Danaeres gives her brother away to be married to another warlord where he is raped by 40000 men and horses so SHE can reclaim the throne.

The brother/sister incest duo have a dwarf baby together and, believing to be cursed, the queen jumps through the window after becoming sick thinking of her ***** mongering brother Tyrian. Her brother does his best Matthew Mconahaugh (sp?) impression and stands around screaming and punching the walls while the dwarf baby sits around chillin.

In the end, they blow up the Death Star and everyone returns to Narnia.

are you trying to imply that's a spoiler?
PooDoo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Why would you think it isn't?

#1 he told us the true origin of the knife is revealed
#2 he told us it's tied to several characters fates.

aCosmicBandito
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And I'm sure they will start changing things from the books to accommodate the tv show just as other shows like True Blood and Dexter have done. I can't see how they would wait until the 3rd season to reveal something like that. Tv audiences don't usually have that kind of patience or memory and there is no way HBO is making all 7 books so they are going to have to cut, compile, and change things as the show develops it's own style and personality.
rhoswen
How long do you want to ignore this user?
you hadn't figured out already that they would, indeed, tell us the origin of the knife, AND that it's tied to several characters? Really?
Madmarttigan

People on this thread think common sense is a spoiler. Of course we are suppose to find out who was responsible for that. That is a huge mystery.

Yea, you're right, most good stories just use common sense with no unexpected twists and turns at all.
