Seasons in Westeros don't pass like regular seasons. Each season could last several years. "Winter is coming" are the words of House Stark and since they are from the North, hard winters affect them most of all and they try to be prepared for them.

no, I realize that. It's just kind of a running joke. After each episode we discuss how awesome it is, and leave it at "remember, Winter is coming!"

Anybody have some information on how this season rated out?

I'm just wondering if they're going to finish this thing out.

well season 2 was greenlit after the pilot aired. i imagine that if ratings were good enough for the finale and DVD sales are strong, season 3 chances will be looking good by the time season 2 kicks into gear next spring

PooDoo ****ing nailed it....even if he was just being a horny bass-tard. Also, that episode was ****ing tight. I'm gonna start reading the books tonight, there is no way I could wait 10 months or however long until it starts up again.

The show is here to stay. Last week's episode pulled in 3.4 million viewers over both showings on Sunday.

Hype is positive and it was recently given a slew of nominations (best drama, new program, and program of the year).

Coupled with the fact that you have 3 other books, 1 more coming out in July, and a lot of fans of the books and you have a pretty good recipe for success. Filming for Season 2 should be starting sometime next month.

Finale was pretty damn good. Definitely not excited about waiting for a whole year though.

The Nights Watch beyond the wall is gonna be great next season. Storyline I'm most excited about. Robb as the north king and the dragons are gonna be pretty interesting too. I thought it was a good season finale and set a lot of things up for next year. Definitely will be checking out the books before then though.

The one really odd thing in the episode was the old advisor to the king that has been pretending to be all bent over and weak when he's in front of other people. The way he hopped up and moved around after the prostitute left made me think he's been leading everyone on for some odd untold reason.

Was that a prostitute or Starks oldest daughter? I couldn't tell. They look similar. Maybe I was tired.

The other great thing about the success of the show is that they should have a bigger budget when it comes to CGI. It would seem this first season was limited, with the lack of direwolves. They definitely take a more prominent role in the books.
Dragons, direwolves, and zombies! Oh my!

Thought it was the daughter too at first until they showed her face, it was the northern prostitute. I definitely found myself wondering "what was the point of that scene?" afterward though. Seemed pretty randomly thrown in there.

And the old guy's always hobbly cus he has a ton of metal chains in the outfit he has to wear (can't remember if they described that in the series or if I read that somewhere else...)

CGI dragons looked GREAT! You just knew there were going to be dragons and I was really nervous about how they were going to look, those looked perfect.

Looking forward to adventures north of the wall, still hoping Jamie gets disfigured, and looks like I was wrong about Robb being defeated and going guerrilla, owell!

Oh yea, and that witch totally had it coming. Love the blurred lines between "good" and "bad" in this show.

The old guy is yanking our chains. He pretends to be hobbled, hard of hearing but Is not, obviously.

Wait... there were dragons in the last scene with Dany???
Ag20??
How long do you want to ignore this user?
When they faded to black after Dany walked into the fire, I was momentarily extremely pissed off. That would've been a terrible way to end the season.

There was a lot of reveal on the back story in this episode, including the scene with the Grand Maester and the prostitute. Of course, a lot of that was spoiled by overzealous posters on this thread.

I think the scene with the Grand Maester was also there to just show you all is not as it seems with him.

This is a new concept to you in this show? Everyone has been leading everyone on in some way, shape, or form in every episode of this show so far.

A few quick questions:
1) Was the guy that Cersei was sleeping with the same guy that was giving Robert the wine on the hunt?
2) Did anyone recognize any of the other heads on the stakes around Lord Stark's? The one next to the old woman's looked like it could have been the sword instructor's. They didn't show him dying, and I'm on record as hoping he somehow made it out of that spat.
3) The guy that shielded Arrya (the Stark girl) from the execution...I realize he is in the Night's Guard, but was he also the one that recruited Jon Snow?
4) And for some reason, I thought Bran was the youngest of the Stark boys. The other boy that was down in the tunnels with a direwolf...he's a younger brother of Bran?

There is no way I will be able to wait a full year before next season, so I will succumb to buying the books. Given the ratings this show is receiving, I am sure George R.R. Martin will be BANKING on book sales.

For those asking, production for Season 2 will begin Monday, July 25 in Belfast, Ireland.

So much left wide open for future seasons! Here are the "untied" storylines I could think of off the top of my head (some with my own assumptions):

  • Rob/Catelyn Stark's War on the Lannisters/Jaime's fate
  • Sansa's oppression by King Joffrey/The Hound as her ally??
  • Arya's disguise and (seemingly) new friendship with the Armorer's Apprentice (Robert's basturrd??)
  • Tyrion's appointment as Hand of the King, and his choice to bring Shae with him despite Tywin's order not to
  • Jon Snow's journey to the other side of the wall
  • Dany's dragons (awesome) and the "new" Khalasar
  • Littlefinger and Vaerys' potential "alliance"?
  • Bran and his brother's identical dream
  • Grand Maester's hobbled act
  • Will we see anymore of the remaining Baratheon's (Stannis/Renly)??
  • A full-blown Winter in Westeros

A few more thoughts:
- Noticed Syrio's head was not on a spike with Ned's and Septa's...please still be alive!
- Cersei sure has a thing for incest...wasn't she sleeping with another Lannister when she got the news of Jaime's capture?

EDIT because you can't say basturrd...

That is Rickon Stark, and he is indeed the youngest Stark.

A few quick questions:
1) Was the guy that Cersei was sleeping with the same guy that was giving Robert the wine on the hunt? YES. LANCEL IS HIS NAME AND IS CERSEI'S COUSIN.
2) Did anyone recognize any of the other heads on the stakes around Lord Stark's? The one next to the old woman's looked like it could have been the sword instructor's. They didn't show him dying, and I'm on record as hoping he somehow made it out of that spat. I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ANYONE.
3) The guy that shielded Arrya (the Stark girl) from the execution...I realize he is in the Night's Guard, but was he also the one that recruited Jon Snow? YOREN IS HIS NAME. DIDN'T RECRUIT JON SNOW, BUT TRAVELLED WITH TYRION AND TOLD NED THAT CATELYN HAD TAKEN TYRION ON THE KING'S ROAD.
4) And for some reason, I thought Bran was the youngest of the Stark boys. The other boy that was down in the tunnels with a direwolf...he's a younger brother of Bran? RICKON IS THE YOUNGEST BROTHERS NAME. HE WAS SEEN IN THE FIRST EPISODE, SITTING ON A FENCE WHILE JON AND ROB WERE TEACHING BRAN TO SHOOT.

1. Yes. Lancel Lannister. Son of Ser Kevan.
2. I didn't pay attention to the other heads.
3. That was Yoren, who came to Kings Landing to ask Ned for more men.
4. The youngest Stark is Bran's brother Rickon. He's been shown in previous episodes, but not much. He speaks to Bran at Bran's bed in an earlier episode.

Holy Crap this show is awesome. I'm gonna buy the books, no doubt.

And for the rest of you *****ing about waiting till spring 2012. Why don't you do your life a favor and read the books. Educate yourself, challenge your mind and imagination. Don't just sit back and wait till next year just to be numbly entertained. Just a thought...

Pretty sure this "Lancel" kid was Robert's squire / aide or something like that (not sure what the technical term is). He was always the one Robert was asking to fetch him wine and Robert was often verbally abusive to him. For example, remember the scene when Robert was putting his armor on but he was too fat so he was picking on a kid and terrifying him about it? I think that was Lancel.

I will say this... I can see how the Mad King Targareon may have behaved if his actions were anything like his daughter's... Her character is awesome and the story line is one of the best, but if she rules a kingdom like she's acting right now, she's just gonna be mad king part 2

I'm definitely not waiting until next spring... Time to start reading

I can't wait to see Cersei's reaction when she finds out Tyrian is going to be the new Hand of the King with his bottom ***** on his arm haha. Not quite the relationship that he has with Jaime, or the one Cersei has with him either obviously. Seems Tyrian is The only Lannister who hasnt gotten to get Some from the queen. It's going to be great watching them two and Joffrey fight over how the kingdom should be ruled.

Way ahead of you... read them once before the show came out and read the first one again during the show to see differences.

I can't wait for tyrion to ***** slap Joffrey a few more times. I can see it now, since tyrion is the "hand of the king," expect to see this dialogue, "Joffrey, stop hitting yourself, Joffrey, stop hitting yourself."

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Alright, this will be my last post as a non-reader, so I want to get all of my crazy predictions out of the way, so I can look back a few weeks from now and realize how stupid I was.

1. Dany looks to gain more followers and bide her time until her "new pets" grow to eventually take on the Dothraki, in order to expand her depleted army. Also, I see her and Jorah hooking up, but she dismisses it as a drunken mistake, forever leaving him in the friend zone.

2. Arya develops a crush on Robert's bass-tard, and she becomes reunited with her favorite sibling, Jon, at the wall. Also, I think she continues to hone her skills as a warrior, and possibly become the first woman of the watch?

3. I just have an inkling that Robb is gonna die pretty soon..."King of the North"? I think him accepting the title was a stupid idea. I just don't think their forces are strong enough to handle everything that will be thrown at them. Also, I don't trust Theon (mostly because of his sh*tty mustache, it makes him look like a rat). I have a feeling that him and the rest of the Greyjoys will be looking for revenge.

4. There is something about Jon's lineage that keeps bugging me. I know his mother has yet to be revealed, but I just have trouble accepting that a man that is so bound to his honor like Ned would decide to have an affair within the first few years of his marriage to Cat. If, in fact, Ned is not his father, whose secret is he keeping? I doubt it is King Robert's because he has too many bass-tards to count...maybe his brother slept with the enemy, or possibly Lyanna had an affair with that Targayean dude? Also, I think that he will find his uncle....as a mindless zombie, and will be forced to kill him.

5. Syrio isn't dead.

6. Tyrion goes back to King's Landing and wrecks sh*t. I feel like he will constantly undermine Joffery to the point where the petulant king may ask for his uncle's head.

7. I don't think it was a good idea for Littlefinger to befriend that bald dude. If there is anyone who seems sneakier and more underhanded than Littlefinger, it's him. I think this "friendship" will be Littlefinger's demise.

8. My biggest question about the old bearded dude is, where does his allegiance lie? IMO, he is still a staunch suporter of the Targaryeans and will look to help Dany as much as possible as she attempts to regain the seven kingdoms.
